Job Title Anchorage, AK Secret Polygraph Unspecified Career Level not specified Salary not specified Job Description Duties Help Independently processes all paperwork necessary to process members for separation, discharge, retirement, and release from active duty in support of Army personnel. Conducts records review with members. Serves as the primary source of information for individuals, commanders, and other personnel on and off base regarding separation and retirement policies, procedures and requirements. Updates inquiries and processes actions through Personnel Data System. Uses a variety of office automation hardware, software, and peripherals in the performance of military personnel functions and performs other clerical support work. The incumbent must have the ability to type a minimum of 40 WPM Personal data, to which the incumbent has access, are controlled by the Privacy Act of 1974 and must be safeguarded appropriately. Includes assisting in the Deployment Cycle Support (DCS) and manifesting, which may require a non-routine work schedule. Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-04, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes substantive clerical or procedural work in support of Army Military Personnel Section and support such as assignment, enlistment, reenlistment, promotion, awards, official passports, performance evaluation, routine boards, separation, or similar matters and performs a substantive review of records to determine eligibility for actions. OR EDUCATION: Successfully completed four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. NOTE: You must submit a copy of official transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:: A combination of specialized experience and education as described above. Therefore, has a combination of experience and education to meet the qualifications of the position. This education was received from an accredited University, College, etc. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1.Knowledge of a standardized body of military personnel regulations and procedures relating to military separations and retirements and of format, content, and uses of the military personnel record and the procedures and requirements regarding its maintenance. 2. Knowledge of military organizational structure, protocol, and similar matters. 3. Knowledge of general office administrative and clerical procedures. 4 . Knowledge of the military personnel automated system and office automation hardware, software, and peripherals. A qualified typist is not required 5. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and maintain effective work relationships. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
