Projects will range from internal innovations to working on products with world leading brands. Technology includes plastic injection molding, elastomeric molding, machining, metal forming and stamping. This is a role for a self-starter who enjoys working through hard problems, works well with customers and factory teams, and takes personal responsibility.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nPerforms architectural and detailed mechanical/electromechanical design utilizing 1HMX technology to exceed customer requirements and specifications.\nAssists in performing costing activities to support sales growth.\nWorks with customers to help establish design definitions.\nInnovates and helps develop 1HMX value and technical capabilities.\nAssists in the development and maintenance of design standards and best practices.\nCoordinates mechanical/electromechanical design activities with the responsible Project Manager.\nReviews designs with Manufacturing to ensure the product is manufacturable.\nResponsible for the mechanical/electromechanical facets of assigned projects through production.\nLead reliability and testing of designs.\nParticipate in technical design review meetings.\n\nQualifications\n\nRequired\n\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.\n3 plus years of relevant product design experience.\nExperience designing and analyzing multi-part mechanisms and mechanical/electromechanical assemblies.\nStrong analytical abilities in math, stress, and thermal analysis.\nAttention to detail, tolerancing, accuracy, and speed of execution.\nExperience with plastic, elastomer, and metal part design and fabrication.\nSolid foundation in materials science.\nFamiliarity with designing for EMC compliance.\nRapid prototyping experience.\nElectronic packaging experience.\n3D CAD tool experience, preferably with SolidWorks.\nAbility to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with customers, vendors, and factory personnel.\nAbility to manage individual design projects from conception through production.\nAbility to manage multiple concurrent projects.\n\nPreferred\n\nExperience with industry-standard PC interfaces.\nAdvanced CAD/CAE experience, e.g., advanced surfacing, FEA.\nExperience with statistical quality control and inspection techniques.\nFamiliarity with FDA, TUV, EC, FCC, and other applicable agency requirements.\nFamiliarity with reliability engineering methodologies, including worst-case, stress, and durability analysis and HALT.\nExperience establishing sourcing and tooling strategies.\nExperience with direct customer technical communication and guidance.\n\nWork Conditions\n\nSome domestic and occasional global travel to support customers and 1HMX / AIS facilities.\nAbility to work in lab, prototype shop, and manufacturing environments with appropriate PPE.\n\nEqual Opportunity\n\n1HMX /AIS is an equal opportunity employer.
