School Adjustment Counselor-High School

The Amherst-Pelham Regional School District is seeking a highly skilled counselor for the high school to provide in-school counseling services for students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs. The School Adjustment Counselor will work with the students with social/emotional issues. The caseload will be focused on providing counseling services for students with IEPs who receive counseling services.The Counselor will partner with other school personnel to meet the needs of the students in the school. This is a full term, interim position.The School Adjustment Counselor will have the following roles and responsibilities:Provide group and individual counseling servicesCase management services for assigned caseloadParticipate in IEP meetings; develop and progress monitor IEP goalsCollaborate and consult with school personnel on topics related to social/emotional learning and mental health issuesProvide crisis intervention when neededConduct self harm and threat assessments as neededDo behavioral assessments and develop behavior support plansFamily communication and collaboration as part of service delivery planning and servicesCollaborate and consult with teachers and related service personnel regarding strategies and interventions appropriate for students and communication regarding progress monitoringMaintain contact with outside providers and agencies to facilitate a comprehensive approach to the student's service deliveryExperience working with Culturally Diverse PopulationsOther Duties and Responsibilities:Attend districtwide mental health team meetings and trainingsPerform other related duties as requiredAssume any additional responsibilities as directed by the PrincipalQualifications:Master's Degree or above in Social Work, Psychology, or other mental health provider fieldBackground working with children and adolescents with mental health needsMA ESE School Adjustment Counselor certification or eligibility for certification required.Bilingual and/or bicultural candidates encouraged to apply
