{"schemaVersion":"jobsearcher.job.v1","id":"f5aa91fde020edbade2d9da5","url":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/f5aa91fde020edbade2d9da5","canonicalUrl":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/f5aa91fde020edbade2d9da5","title":"Camp Program Associate","description":"Job Title: Camp Program Associate\nExempt/Non-exempt: NON-EXEMPT\nImmediate Supervisor: Director of Camp Wartburg\nEssential Functions:\n1.\nPrimarily responsible for supporting the daily operations, safety, and overall mission of the youth camp by performing a combination of food service, facilities maintenance, and camper supervision duties to ensure a positive, safe, and well-organized camp environment.\n2.\nPrepare and cook balanced, healthy meals and snacks for campers according to a pre-planned menu, while accommodating dietary restrictions and food allergies to ensure the safety and well-being of all children.\n3.\nMaintain a clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen and dining area in compliance with state and local health codes, including proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices.\n4.\nManage kitchen inventory by stocking, rotating, and monitoring food and supply levels, and reporting needs to camp leadership in a timely manner.\n5.\nSafely operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, and dishwashers in accordance with established safety procedures.\n6.\nPerform routine facilities maintenance and minor repairs, including light carpentry, painting, and basic plumbing, to ensure all camp buildings and grounds are functional, clean, and safe.\n7.\nConduct regular cleaning and sanitization of camp facilities, dining areas, restrooms, and common spaces, including sweeping, mopping, and disinfecting surfaces.\n8.\nAssist with daily camp setup and end-of-day teardown, as well as seasonal preparation and closing of camp facilities.\n9.\nSupport waste and recycling management throughout the camp property to maintain a clean and orderly environment.\n10.\nProvide supervision and care for campers during non-program times such as meals, transitions, and downtime, ensuring consistent adherence to camp rules and safety protocols.\n11.\nMonitor camper behavior and address concerns using approved, positive behavior management techniques, escalating issues to leadership when necessary.\n12.\nMaintain responsibility for the welfare, health, and safety of all children at the camp and ensure compliance with state licensing regulations for youth camps.\n13.\nReview, understand, and be prepared to implement the Camp Emergency Preparedness Plan and report any safety incidents or concerns promptly.\n14.\nAssist camp directors with the delivery, coordination, and execution of camp programs and daily activities as needed.\n15.\nEngage professionally with camp parents and guardians by answering questions, addressing concerns, and assisting with disciplinary matters involving campers when appropriate.\n\n16.\nMaintain a positive, energetic, and enthusiastic demeanor while interacting with campers, staff, and families, contributing to a welcoming and supportive camp culture.\n17.\nSuccessfully complete Camp Staff Orientation and all required trainings to ensure readiness for assigned responsibilities.\n18.\nPerform other duties as assigned.\nKnowledge and Ability Requirements:\n\nStrong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced camp environment.\n\nDemonstrated problem-solving skills and adaptability to respond effectively to unexpected issues and changing priorities.\n\nWorking knowledge of basic facilities maintenance and technical tasks to ensure a safe, functional, and well-maintained camp environment.\n\nEffective communication and collaboration skills to coordinate with camp leadership, staff, and parents as needed.\n\nHigh attention to detail with a strong commitment to safety, including youth supervision standards and food safety practices.\n\nDemonstrated understanding of and adherence to safety protocols, particularly those involving children and food preparation.\n\nAbility to perform moderately strenuous physical tasks, including standing for extended periods and navigating uneven outdoor terrain.\n\nReliable, responsible, and adaptable with the ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.\n\nAbility to work collaboratively as part of a team while maintaining accountability for assigned responsibilities.\n\nCommitment to supporting a positive, safe, and inclusive camp environment for all participants.\nEducation and Experience:\nA high school diploma or GED is required. Candidates must hold a valid Food Handler’s certification and have proven experience working with children in a camp, school, recreational, or similar youth-focused setting. Prior experience in a residential camp environment is preferred. Applicants should possess current CPR and First Aid certification, along with basic knowledge of general repair and maintenance techniques. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age.\nPhysical Demands and Other Requirements:\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties listed in the job description satisfactorily. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, or controls; reach with hands and arms. Capable of operating standard office equipment, including a computer and keyboard, calculator, typical business machines such as a fax machine and copier. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to have valid driver’s license, auto insurance and must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle.
