Senior Water/Wastewater Plant Project Engineer Location: Texas preferred; fully remote available within the U.S. Overview A growing civil engineering firm is seeking a Senior Water/Wastewater Plant Project Engineer to support increasing demand in municipal infrastructure and land development projects. This is a highly technical, design-focused role with significant autonomy and visibility. The position is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys hands-on technical work, thrives in an independent environment, and wants to play a key role in scaling a growing organization. Key ResponsibilitiesLead technical design and production for water and wastewater treatment plant projectsPerform treatment process design for facilities ranging from package plants up to ~10 MGDPrepare and seal engineering documents (PE required)Coordinate with internal project teams and external stakeholdersSupport municipal and land development infrastructure projectsMaintain strong quality control standards to minimize redesign and reworkProvide limited support during construction coordination Project TypesMunicipal water and wastewater treatment plantsResidential land development infrastructureNew construction and plant expansionsSmall-city infrastructure projects Qualifications Required:Professional Engineer (PE) licenseBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline~10+ years of overall engineering experience6-7+ years focused on water/wastewater treatment plant designStrong technical design and production experienceProficiency in AutoCAD and/or Civil 3DExperience with municipal projects and U.S.-based engineering standardsAbility to work independently with minimal supervision Preferred:Experience in treatment process designBackground in consulting engineeringExperience with projects up to ~10 MGD Desired ProfileHighly detail-oriented with a strong QC mindsetSelf-motivated and accountableComfortable working in a remote, independent environmentHands-on technical contributor (not purely project management)Collaborative and personable What Success Looks LikeIndependently managing technical project workTaking ownership of design and production responsibilitiesReducing workload on senior leadershipContributing to increased project capacity and company growth Compensation & BenefitsBase salary around $150K+ depending on experiencePotential for future bonus or incentive structuresBenefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage401(k) plan availableApproximately 3 weeks PTOFlexible, results-oriented work environmentLong-term growth and potential ownership opportunities Why This RoleHigh-impact position with significant autonomyOpportunity to work on diverse Texas infrastructure projectsStrong backlog of municipal and development workClear path to leadership and long-term growthFlexible, fully remote work environment
