Our goal is to be the first choice for families seeking an educational experience where every student is challenged, supported, and inspired to own their journey to mastery and independence in a community where they are truly known and valued.Position SummaryReporting to the Athletic Director, Bancroft School seeks a qualified substitute Athletic Trainer to provide coverage during a family leave for our current Athletic Trainer. This long-term substitute position is responsible for organizing and maintaining the athletic training facility, providing a wide range of prevention and treatment services for student-athlete injuries, rehabilitation, evaluation, reconditioning, education, and guidance; and performing related work as required. The duration of this position is from August 17, 2026-November 14, 2026.Duties And ResponsibilitiesThe substitute Athletic Trainer will practice within the parameters of the state of Massachusetts Athletic Trainers Licensing Law, and will follow both the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics as set forth by the National Athletic Trainers Association. The duties of this position are based on the needs of the school and its athletic program and include:Provide athletic training coverage at all home athletic contests and practices, and attend other post-season and home-hosted contests as directed by the Director of AthleticsMaintain the established athletic training program for high school and middle school athleticsProvide injury assessment/treatment/rehabilitation for Bancroft School student-athletes, as well as athletes from visiting schoolsCoordinate the review of annual required athletic physicals to ensure that all student-athletes have a current and valid physicalSupervise the clearance of injured athletes prior to and during the sports seasonsManage all rehabilitation and treatment programs and methods for injured student-athletesMaintain an effective and efficient athletic training roomMaintain communication with parents/guardians regarding injury status and the care/treatment of their student-athleteMaintain communication with the appropriate division head, Dean of Students, and School Nurse regarding injury status and care of all athletesEvaluate athletes' readiness to play, and provide participation clearances when necessary and warranted.File all necessary reports associated with athletic injuries and/or incidents.Maintain a daily treatment logResponsible for concussion assessment, return to play planning, and ImPACT testingOversee the ordering of supplies and equipment pertaining to the athletic training room and maintain an up-to-date inventory. Provide the Athletic Director with an annual budget for supplies and equipment.Equip each team with appropriate first aid supplies for away contestsCreate a safe playing environment by monitoring field conditions, heat index, and weather-related risk and informing the Director of AthleticsMaintain accurate records of injuries, treatments, and provide forms as appropriateResponsible for following all HIPAA regulations and guidelinesServe as an Assistant Director of Athletics and provide administrative support to the Director of Athletics as needed and assignedOther duties as assignedQualifications/Certifications PreferredBachelor's Degree required, Master’s preferredNational Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of CertificationMassachusetts Athletic Training LicenseDesire to work collaboratively with colleaguesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsCPR/ First Aid/AED certificationBancroft seeks dynamic candidates who will be active participants in the community beyond the classroom, with an interest in supporting extracurricular activities in athletics, clubs, and other programs.Bancroft is committed to cultivating and sustaining a community that embraces differences and welcomes candidates who will add to the racial and cultural diversity of our community. Compensation is based on a variety of factors, including education, experience, skills, expertise, and internal equity.
