The successful candidate will work with Kindergarten through 5th Grade students with diverse needs, focusing on social-emotional behavior skills within a highly structured, functional behavior-based classroom. Candidates should have experience working with special education students, particularly those with significant behavioral and emotional needs, and a background in delivering services within a behavioral-based model based on applied behavioral analysis. The role involves supporting academic, social skills, and self-regulation, especially for students with behavioral needs, and follows an ABA approach to teaching academic and behavior skills. Knowledge of and experience with positive-behavior reinforcement, Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), and Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) development is preferred.The qualified candidate must hold or be eligible for a valid Missouri Certificate in Mild/Moderate Cross Categorical Education or other similar special education area.Key Responsibilities:Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to students' academic and behavioral needs.Teach functional academic skills, focusing on real-world applications such as literacy, numeracy, and life skills.Provide direct instruction and support in social-emotional learning (SEL) to promote positive behavior and self-regulation.Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff to ensure inclusive practices and differentiated instruction.Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports for IEP goals and compliance.Communicate regularly with families to discuss student progress, challenges, and strategies for support.Create a safe, engaging, and structured classroom environment that supports learning and personal growth, emphasizing a language-rich model for effective communication and instruction.Oversee and direct the work of paraprofessionals within the self-contained classroom to ensure consistent instruction and support for all students.Competitive Salary and Benefits Package:Salary schedule placement acknowledging highest level of education and ALL years of previous teaching experience as allowed by the salary scheduleDistrict paid employee medical, dental, and life insurance (with option to purchase coverage for spouse, children, or family)Employee option to purchase voluntary benefits including vision insurance, short term disability, long term disability and other supplemental insurance policies.10 Days Paid Time Off per year.District matched retirement contribution of 14.5% to Public School Retirement System (PSRS).
