The EIC will be built on the highly optimized RHIC Ion‑Ion collider and will consist of two intersecting accelerators—one for electrons and one for protons or heavier nuclei—steered into collisions. The collider will spark fundamental science discoveries and trigger technological breakthroughs with broad impact on science, national challenges, and human health.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nProvide line management, supervision, and mentorship to electrical engineers and technicians within the Power Supply Group.\n\nPlan, allocate, and manage team workload and priorities in alignment with project milestones.\n\nLead and manage the specification, design, and analysis of power supply cables, cable tray, and racks, and assist other EIC groups with engineering of their cable, cable tray, and rack scope.\n\nLead and manage the operations of the EIC cable and rack plant, including fabrication planning, standards, quality control, workflow, documentation, and resource allocation.\n\nServe as a Control Account Manager (CAM) for assigned EIC project scope, including:\nTracking progress, expenditures, and resource usage for cable and rack plant activities and related electrical integration tasks.\n\nPreparing monthly earned value reporting and presenting performance data to project management.\n\nIdentifying schedule or cost variances, determining root causes, and implementing corrective actions.\n\nCoordinating closely with project controls, procurement, and other WBS managers to ensure accurate forecasting and planning.\n\nCoordinate electrical integration activities to ensure compatibility with accelerator systems, magnets, controls, and facility infrastructure.\n\nContribute to the design, procurement, installation, and commissioning activities for general AC power distribution systems and power supplies.\n\nWork collaboratively with multiple EIC technical teams, CAD groups, ES&H staff, and F&O personnel to ensure safe, coordinated, and efficient execution of electrical work.\n\nDevelop and enforce engineering standards, design practices, documentation, and safety procedures.\n\nSupport design reviews, readiness reviews, configuration control, and other formal project processes.\n\nEnsure adherence to electrical codes, laboratory standards, and ES&H requirements across all assigned activities.\n\nRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities\n\nBachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field.\n\nAt least 10 years of relevant electrical engineering experience in large scientific, industrial, or technical environments.\n\nDemonstrated experience supervising and developing electrical engineering and technical staff.\n\nStrong understanding of AC power distribution, power supplies, grounding, protection, and system integration.\n\nExperience in cable and rack design, routing, installation, and configuration control.\n\nFamiliarity with project planning, scheduling, and cost‑tracking tools and processes, such as earned‑value management.\n\nStrong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross‑disciplinary environment.\n\nPreferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities\n\nMaster’s degree in electrical engineering or related discipline.\n\nExperience working in accelerator or large‑scale research facility environments.\n\nWorking knowledge of NEC Code Article392 and NEMA VA‑1.\n\nPrior CAM experience within an earned‑value management system (EVMS).\n\nExperience with 3D CAD, cablerouting, or engineering documentation systems.\n\nEnvironmental, Health & Safety Requirements\n\nWill be required to climb ladders to varied heights.\n\nWill be required to become a qualified Radiation Worker.\n\nMay be required to occasionally work off‑hours, nights, and/or weekends to support mission‑critical projects.\n\nOther Information\n\nValid driver’s license is required.\n\nSome travel may be required.\n\nSalary\nSalary range: $136,350 – $218,150 per year.\n\nEqual Opportunity\nBrookhaven Science Associates is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer—it applies to veterans and employees with disabilities.
