Paraprofessional (Preschool) 27 hours per week

Definition: Paraprofessionals generally support students in PreK-4 Inclusion programs, middle school (Grades 5-8) co-taught programs, the high school inclusion program and the high school co-taught program. Includes working in schools/programs with students in PreK-4 Inclusion Program. Paraprofessionals do not generally have child specific assignments, but rather are assigned to a classroom or classrooms.Essential Functions: The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as an illustration of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.General support of a classroom or classroomsProvide academic support and carry over of the lessons the teacher and Special Education Teacher has developedProvide all accommodations delineated within a students designated IEP/504Implement modifications that have been developed by the classroom teacher and/or Special Education TeacherDevelop materials based on specific instruction from the classroom teacher and/or Special Education TeacherCreate opportunities and instructs students to be independent in a variety of settings across their school dayProvide carry over of instructional practices developed by related service providers (speech, OT, PT, Psychologist)Potentially assigned to multiple/different classroom grade levels or teamsAbility to implement behavioral/social support plans within the classroom to individual students or group of students (including but not limited to attending, non-compliance, completion of tasks, following rules and classroom expectations)Provide small or whole group instruction within the classroomRegular education and special education students will be supportedEngage individual and small groups of learners in instructional activitiesFollow prescribed criteria for providing and/or fading student supportShare relevant information about learners with teachers and other school personnel as needed to facilitate problem solving, decision-making, and program planningSupport students to access a variety of technologyComplete all required documentation related to incidents, accidents, discipline, assault, etc.Complete data collection related to academic functioning/student performance that supports instructionFacilitate positive relationships and engagements with peersSupport students with organization of materials, assignments and schedulesMay be required to assist student taking notes or scribingBased on the student population and census in the buildings, may be assigned to different buildingsEnsure that all accommodations outlined in the DCAP (District Curriculum Accommodation Plan) are implemented based on student needsAssist in the development of portfolios for MCAS when appropriateAssist in the facilitation of MCAS based on accommodationsSupport students during their specials, lunch, and recess timesFacilitate and support arrival and dismissal timesMaintain student confidentialityCarry out other related assignments designated by the PrincipalRequired Skills, Experience, and Competencies: High school degree or equivalentEnjoys working with children and is dedicated to the education of all childrenExemplifies the core values of North Middlesex Regional School DistrictAcademic knowledge of the curriculum of the grade level supported
