This organization is responsible for everything up and down our technology software stack, and is at the heart of making sure Form's battery achieves the best performance possible. As part of our firmware team, you will write the firmware to bring our multi-Day storage battery system to life. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and be part of the growth of a fast-moving company with breakthrough technology and an incredible mission!\r\nRelocation assistance is available.\r\nWhat you'll do:\r\nDevelop microcontroller firmware for embedded systems, sensors, and power flow control circuitry for our Battery Management System (BMS).\r\nDerive software and hardware specifications and design features based on product requirements to meet UL 1998 and UL 5500 standards.\r\nWork with an interdisciplinary group of engineers on the Systems Team to define concepts, down-select designs, and optimize the new groundbreaking technology.\r\nSupport product deployment and field activities, including troubleshooting and debugging firmware in field environments to ensure performance and reliability.\r\nContribute to the unit and integration testing suite, and coordinate with the system and test team, to allow continuous delivery of high-quality firmware.\r\nAdhere to and raise the bar on the firmware engineering processes and best practices.\r\nExpected travel to Form Factory up to 20% of the time during first year in the role.\r\nWhat you'll bring:\r\nBachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related discipline. Master's degree preferred.\r\n4+ years of experience in firmware development for embedded and RTOS systems; direct experience working on firmware for battery management or power electronics is a plus.\r\nExtensive experience using C/C++ for embedded systems in real-time, multithreaded control applications.\r\nKnowledge of peripheral communication protocols such as I2C and SPI, and component-to-component protocols like Modbus and CAN.\r\nKnowledge of electrical engineering concepts, including the ability to read and understand schematics and troubleshoot hardware interfaces.\r\nFamiliarity with software compliance standards (e.g., MISRA, ISO 26262, CMMI, ASPICE, or UL 1998).\r\nExcellent written communication and collaboration skills.\r\nHumanity is a cornerstone of Form Energy's culture, and we make sure our compensation and benefits reflect that.
