This position will be responsible for daily, weekly and monthly accounting tasks and activities.\r\nKey functions include but are not limited to the following:\r\nAssist management by safeguarding company assets, ensuring compliance with regulatory entities, producing reliable financial data in an efficient manner and accomplishing objectives.\r\nActively participate and oversee the Accounting function of the Finance department, monthly/quarterly financial close process, account reconciliations, SOX compliance, manage projects, train staff and review their work.\r\nMaintain and provide accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual GAAP financials and prepare and provide reports and information as requested by WRBC.\r\nProvide financial information to auditors and examiners as required, as well as regulatory/reporting entities as requested.\r\nActively participate and oversee preparation of the annual company budgeting process and provide monthly analysis of actual performance measured against these budgets.\r\nPrepare and provide required tax reports and calculations, as necessary, to WRBC.\r\nAct as a backup for the operation of the Finance department in the absence of the CFO.\r\nOther duties/projects as assigned.\r\nCandidate must sit in a Berkley Southeast office in Lawrenceville, GA, Charlotte NC, Nashville, TN, Birmingham, AL or Meridian, MS.\r\nQualificationsMin ofFive years of accounting experience in an insurance environment.\r\nAdvanced knowledge/skill in various accounting areas, such as reinsurance, GL, statutory and GAAP reporting, taxes and statistical reporting.\r\nStrong working knowledge of Excel, Hyperion and other data management tools, including pivot tables & V lookups.\r\nExperience with Peoplesoft software (GL, Fixed Assets, Accounts Payable) a plus.\r\nCPA preferred or advanced insurance accounting education, such as AIAF, CPCU, and other commensurate experience.\r\nSuccessfully completed INS designation.\r\nPerformance appraisal - attain Exceeds Expectations rating and achieve major objectives.\r\nEducation Requirement4-year college degree in accounting or business.\r\nAdditional Company DetailsWe do not accept unsolicited resumes from third party recruiting agencies or firms.
