Discover more about our mission and our \"All Ways Forward\" approach at brightwayny.org.The RoleThe Chaperone works alongside a Driver/Transporter assisting in the transport of developmentally disabled individuals, ensuring the safety of all persons on the vehicle.Looking For Chaperones In The Following AreasPlease note that a 25hour shift is eligible for health insurance and paid time off benefits through the agency. Also, there may be an opportunity to pick up additional hours in other DDI programs. Salary: $18.00 - $19.80hourWhat You'll DoAssist in the transport of developmentally disabled individuals throughout Suffolk County.Ensure all individuals get on and off the vehicle safelyTake time to learn about the individuals transportedProvide support to ensure correct behaviors by riders at all timesDocument any inappropriate behaviorBecome familiar with the routeCommunicate any problems Assist the individuals who are unable to seatbelt themselvesInteract with the individuals that are transportedAssist the driver in completing necessary paperwork (route sheets, incident reports and vehicle log)Ensure there is no eating or drinking on the vehicleEnsure individuals exit the vehicle with all of their belongingsEnsure that all individuals are received by a responsible adult after they exit the vehicleAssist in maintaining a clean vehicleMaintain a professional appearance at all timesWhat You Offer UsExperience working with developmentally disabled preferredMust be 18 years old CPR, SCIP, First Aid Certification within 90 days of hireAbility to read, understand, and follow safety guidelinesWhy You'll Love This Job Build Meaningful Relationships: Develop strong connections with individuals and their families.
