Ideal candidate will be coachable and mechanically inclined.\n\nEssential Job Duties\n\nAssist and learn under the direction of Sprinkler Technician Journeymen in the following:\n\nInstall pipe systems and valves\n\nCut, thread, assemble and bond pipes and tubes according to specifications\n\nModify, clean and maintain pipe systems, units and fittings\n\nRemove and replace worn components\n\nLearn to follow blueprints to meet product specifications\n\nLearn how to calculate material measurements to verify specifications\n\nLearn proper installation techniques\n\nOther duties may be assigned\n\nEducation, Training, Certifications\n\nHS Diploma or equivalent, required\n\nMust be able to enroll and obtain current Fire Sprinkler License\n\nExperience, Knowledge, Skill Requirements\n\nMechanical ability and basic hand tool knowledge\n\nWork efficiently with minimal supervision under direction of Sprinkler Technicians\n\nBasic math skills, mechanical aptitude, problem solving skills, customer service skills, decision making ability, multitasking, planning and organizing, troubleshooting, and the ability to train others\n\nCommunication Skills\n\nMust have the ability to effectively read, write and communicate in English with employees and customers\n\nSystems and Software Skills\n\nAbility to read electronic blueprints, strongly preferred\n\nOther Qualifications\n\nValid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required\n\nMust be able to comply with SFS’s Drug and Alcohol policy and Background screening requirements, which may also include customer specific requirements based on contractual agreement\n\nPhysical & Work Environment Requirements\nReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job duties.\n\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to bend, ascend and descend step stools, ladders and stairs, kneel, lift 75 lbs, reach above and below shoulders, stand and walk for extended periods of time. The employee is required to see in color, close and far distances, peripheral, depth, and adjust focus. The employee may occasionally be required to balance, crouch, drive, kneel, lift 75 lbs, sit, stoop, twist, and work at heights.\n\nFrequent local travel and occasional regional and non-regional travel is required. The employee will frequently be required to work inside and outside in hot/cold temperatures and be exposed to loud noises, cramped quarters, dust, fumes and odors, standing on hard surfaces, and electrical hazards frequently. Employees may occasionally be exposed to chemicals, moving machinery, uneven and slippery surfaces.
