Flour Bakery + Cafe is looking for a full-time Lead Prep Cook.The Lead Preparation Cook position is a great opportunity for any line cook or prep cook that is looking to grow into a leadership role and/or management. The Lead prep works closely with the Kitchen Manager to ensure that all parts of the kitchen and stewarding team are efficient and supported at all times. The Leap Prep is expected to lead their teams on their own when the Kitchen Manager is not in the bakery and is expected to work in conjunction with the FOH team to ensure that all orders are being fulfilled timely and with accuracy. Success in this role requires the ability to be proactive when faced with any obstacle including but not limited to; ordering products, fulfilling guest orders and staffing issues, while offering support and guidance for all of the team members, including FOH, at times.Day-to-Day Performance Expectations:Execute prep list for savory and pastry items as written by kitchen manager or manager . Note the order in which tasks are to be completed. Provide support for coworkers in order to ensure prep is being done efficiently. Follow all recipes and techniques in food preparation. Be another set of eyes on product/Mom testProvide constructive feedback as neededHandle food and clean stations per standard sanitation procedures. Assist with kitchen upkeep and deep cleaning tasks when production list is completeAssist with checking in ordering from BKHelp maintain an orderly and clean kitchenCover all Kitchen managers days offCheck-in each day when you arrive and leave with the FOH manager or Kitchen ManagerPlan any and all catering and special orders with FOH manager or Kitchen ManagerPlace BK orders through FlexiPlace vendor ordersInventory product to meet all BOH food parsEnsure stewards have a plan for the day and night Skills for Qualification: Demonstrate an active passion for Flour and our missionEager to learnOpen to feedback and committed to continuous improvementAbility to lift 50lbsGreat sense of urgency and hospitalityDemonstrates good personal hygieneAble to take feedback and directionWillingness to work as a team and help out however neededDedicated to exceeding the expectations of the customers Attention to detailExcellent attendance, reliability, communication and interpersonal skillsReadily adaptable to changeEmbraces new information and learns quicklyActively problem solves using sound judgmentEffective time management skillsKeeps a calm and composed demeanor all the timeMust be able to maintain proper grooming and uniform standards Must be able to stand for long periods, walk, push, pull, reach, and lift < 50 lbs. without assistanceCompensation:This position has an average starting compensation of $18 - 20 per hour ($18 per hour + a shared percentage of sales known as the BOH appreciation, which on average adds around $2 per hour). The starting pay rate for this position is $18, but the total pay range is $15-$24.95Work Environment:Must be able to work around an environment with loud noises and machinery. Must be able to work around various aromas and fluctuating temperatures (at times, you could be in a freezer and.or hot kitchens, etc.)We do our best not to cross-contaminate anything containing gluten. However, there may be gluten in the air at times. We do our best to accommodate any staff allergy requests.
