This is a highly visible, client-facing role for someone who thrives on building relationships, analyzing financial information, managing risk, and serving as a trusted financial advisor.\n\nAs a Controller, you'll oversee the ongoing financial and accounting operations of assigned clients while partnering with their leadership teams, boards, finance committees, and other professional advisors. You'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping clients strengthen their financial operations, improve reporting, plan for the future, and make informed strategic decisions.\n\nWhat You'll Do\nLead Client Financial Operations\nPlan, direct, and coordinate accounting and financial operations for assigned clients.\nProvide financial leadership and strategic guidance to client leadership teams.\nConduct monthly remote client meetings focused on financial analysis, performance, and strategic planning.\nReview monthly financial statements, reports, and analysis prepared by Outsourced Accountants.\nServe as the primary liaison between clients and their other professional service providers.\nAttend and present at client finance committee and board meetings.\nMaintain oversight of client engagement teams and ensure high-quality, timely service delivery.\nDrive Financial Planning & Analysis\nLead budgeting and forecasting activities, including cash flow forecasting.\nAssist clients with the development and preparation of annual operating budgets.\nAnalyze financial performance, trends, profitability, and key business drivers.\nPrepare complex Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and other management reporting.\nTranslate financial data into meaningful insights and actionable recommendations for clients.\nManage Risk & Strengthen Financial Controls\nReview cash flow information and initiate approved client payments through Bill.com, maintaining appropriate cash controls.\nDevelop and maintain comprehensive internal controls designed to mitigate risk and improve the accuracy and reliability of financial reporting.\nIdentify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of client finance operations.\nOversee regulatory reporting, tax planning, and compliance activities.\nProactively identify and address financial or operational risks.\nBe a Trusted Advisor\nManage unexpected and sometimes urgent client matters with professionalism and sound judgment.\nBuild strong, long-term relationships with client leadership and stakeholders.\nSupport business development and growth initiatives for the Accounting Solutions Group and Wegner CPAs.\nLook for opportunities to add value and help clients strengthen their organizations.\nWhat You Bring\n5–7 years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, controllership, or a related role.\nCPA or CMA certification preferred.\nExperience in Non Profit Accounting\nStrong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.\nDemonstrated ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, projections, and management reporting.\nWorking knowledge of short- and long-term budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and profitability analysis.\nStrong leadership and relationship-building skills.\nExcellent analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving abilities.\nExceptional written and verbal communication skills.\nHighly organized, detail-oriented, and able to consistently meet deadlines.\nAbility to confidently communicate financial information to both financial and non-financial audiences.\nA proactive, client-focused approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.\nWhy Wegner?\n\nAt Wegner CPAs, we believe accounting is about more than numbers - it's about helping organizations and the people behind them thrive.\n\nOur Accounting Solutions Group gives you the opportunity to work with a variety of organizations, build meaningful client relationships, and serve as a true financial partner.
