Fleet Mechanic

Job DescriptionPosition SummaryThe Landscape Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of all landscapingequipment, vehicles, and machinery used in day-to-day operations. This role ensures that all equipment issafe, operational, and well-maintained to support efficient landscape services. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in mechanical and small engine repair, detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and able to troubleshoot a variety of equipment and vehicle issues.Key ResponsibilitiesEquipment Maintenance & RepairPerform routine maintenance on landscaping equipment, including mowers, trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, and utility vehicles.Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on small and large equipment.Conduct inspections, preventive maintenance, and tune-ups to ensure reliability and safety.Maintain accurate maintenance and repair logs for all equipment and vehicles.Vehicle MaintenanceService company trucks, trailers, and vans, including oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and fluid checks.Identify and repair mechanical or electrical issues in company fleet vehicles.Coordinate with vendors or suppliers for specialized parts or repairs as needed.Safety & ComplianceEnsure all repairs and maintenance meet company safety standards and manufacturer specifications.Follow all OSHA guidelines, company policies, and environmental regulations.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace and shop area.Inventory & Administrative DutiesTrack and maintain parts inventory and order replacement parts as needed.Keep accurate records of work completed, hours spent, and parts used.Communicate with operations staff regarding equipment status and repair timelines.QualificationsRequired:3+ years of experience in mechanical repair, small engine repair, or equipment maintenance.Strong knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems.Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues efficiently.Familiarity with landscape equipment, trucks, and utility vehicles.Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.PreferredDiesel mechanic experience or certification.Experience in a landscape or outdoor service environment.Welding, fabrication, or other specialized mechanical skills.Bilingual (English/Spanish).Physical & Work RequirementsFrequent standing, bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 50–75 lbs.Work in outdoor conditions, shop environments, and varying temperatures.Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.Occasionally work extended hours to complete urgent repairs.
