This role is focused on construction-driven electrical VDC and drafting, not design engineering or architectural BIM. The VDC Engineer will support the development of detailed electrical layouts, conduit routing, equipment modeling, and installation drawings that are accurate, field-ready, and aligned with project schedules and construction requirements.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nMaintain positive working relationships with all members of the project team, including project managers, field teams, and design partners.\n\nProduce high-quality work safely, accurately, and productively at all times.\n\nProvide feedback to ensure all materials, tools, equipment, and information are available to support drawing production and coordination efforts.\n\nLook for opportunities to improve workflows, drawing quality, and coordination processes.\n\nShop Drawing Production:\n\nDevelop electrical shop drawings including underground conduit layouts, aboveground conduit routing, and duct bank plans.\n\nProduce equipment layouts, sections, elevations, and detailed installation drawings.\n\nTranslate construction documents into clear, accurate, and constructible drawings for field installation.\n\nRevit and AutoCAD Execution:\n\nModel conduit systems and electrical equipment in Revit to validate routing, support coordination, and extract production data.\n\nUtilize AutoCAD for detailing and hybrid workflows as needed.\n\nLeverage models to produce clean, accurate 2D drawings and schedules.\n\nSubmittals and Approvals:\n\nPrepare submittal packages for AE review.\n\nTrack review comments and incorporate revisions.\n\nMaintain Approved for Construction (AFC) documentation.\n\nRFI and Field Support:\n\nIdentify conflicts and unclear information within contract documents.\n\nDevelop RFIs with supporting exhibits.\n\nProvide field support and clarify installation intent.\n\nIncorporate approved field changes into updated drawings.\n\nQuality Control:\n\nPerform thorough self-checks prior to submission.\n\nEnsure consistency with contract documents, company standards, and project requirements.\n\nEliminate waste such as rework, delays, and inefficiencies in drawing production.\n\nMinimum Job Requirements\n\nMust have 2 to 7 years of experience in VDC drafting or construction documentation.\n\nMust be proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PDF markup tools.\n\nMust have a strong understanding of conduit routing and electrical equipment layout.\n\nAbility to work independently, manage assigned scopes, and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.\n\nNote:\n\nJob Description is subject to change at any time and may include other duties as assigned.\n\nPhysical Requirements\n\nWork may involve extended periods at a workstation using computer-aided design software.\n\nMust be able to sit, stand, and move throughout the office or jobsite as needed.\n\nOccasional site visits may require navigating active construction environments, including uneven surfaces and varying weather conditions.\n\nAbility to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when visiting job sites is required.\n\nSafety Level\n\nSafety-Sensitive -\n\nNote:\n\nJobs with the Safety-Sensitive designation are those that include tasks or duties that the employer reasonably believes could affect the safety and health of the employee performing the task or others such as supporting construction operations, coordinating installation activities, or working in active industrial environments.\n\nAbout Us\n\nAs a 100% employee-owned contractor, when you work at Sundt, you’re not just hiring on at a company you’re joining a culture.
