This role is responsible for developing, industrializing, and optimizing laser-based processes to ensure precision, repeatability, throughput, and quality. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on expertise in laser-material interaction, process development, and equipment integration, along with a proven ability to scale processes from development through production. This position plays a critical role in new product introduction (NPI), process validation, and continuous improvement of manufacturing operations.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and optimize laser cutting and marking processes across a range of materialsDefine and refine laser process parameters (power, speed, frequency, focus, assist gases)Lead equipment selection, specification, and commissioning including FAT/SATIntegrate laser systems into automated manufacturing environmentsDesign and implement precision fixtures and toolingEstablish process documentation including work instructions and control plansDefine and implement inspection methods for laser featuresApply DOE, SPC, and Six Sigma tools to improve process capabilitySupport process validation (IQ/OQ/PQ)Lead projects from concept through production launchCollaborate with R&D, Design Engineering, Quality, and OperationsEnsure compliance with laser safety standards and OSHA requirementsDrive continuous improvement initiativesEvaluate emerging laser technologiesQualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Physics, or related field5–10 years of experience in laser processing within manufacturingStrong understanding of laser-material interactionsExperience with laser systems (fiber, CO2, UV preferred)Proven ability to scale production processesExperience with process optimization, troubleshooting, and defect analysisFamiliarity with automation systems, robotics, motion control, and vision systemsExperience designing tooling and fixtures using SolidWorks.Strong analytical skills including DOE, SPC, and structured problem solvingKnowledge of quality systems and validation practicesUnderstanding of laser safety standardsStrong communication and cross-functional collaboration skillsExperience in high-volume or high-precision manufacturing preferredLean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification is a plusAbout CompoSecure CompoSecure, a GPGI business (NYSE: GPGI), is the leading manufacturer of Premium Metal Payment Cards and also offers best-in-class Authentication and Digital Asset solutions.
