Success in this role means consistently producing compelling video content at scale, efficiently turning raw footage into on‑brand assets, and aligning output with clear marketing objectives. You’ll also help maintain a well‑organized, accessible video library that empowers teams to maximize the impact of our content across all platforms.\n\nWhat you’ll be doing\nVideo Editing\n\nReview, organize and select from large volumes of guest, leader and staff footage across media types, including phone/UGC content and RAW mirrorless/DSLR footage\n\nEdit high‑quality short‑form and mid‑form videos for social, web, YouTube and paid media\n\nEdit RAW content into polished deliverables, including audio revision, colour correction, and stabilization methods\n\nAdapt single pieces of footage into multiple platform‑specific versions\n\nMaintain Backroads’ brand voice and visual style across all video content\n\nEnsure video assets are delivered in the correct formats for each platform\n\nAsset Management\n\nOwn the organization and maintenance of the video asset library for easy retrieval and reuse across the video & content team\n\nDevelop consistent tagging and storage practices for incoming footage\n\nEnsure footage and finished assets are archived properly\n\nCollaboration & Project Management\n\nCoordinate with internal teams and external vendors when additional editing or production support is needed\n\nServe as an internal point person for video content questions and needs\n\nProvide light guidance to staff contributing footage on how to capture more usable content\n\nTrack projects through Jira and participate in weekly video production meetings\n\nWhat you’ll need to be successful\n\n3+ years of experience editing digital video content in a fast‑paced, content‑rich environment with concurrent deadlines\n\nStrong storytelling instincts and ability to find narratives within existing footage\n\nExperience creating content for social media, YouTube, websites and paid channels\n\nExcellent organizational skills and ability to manage large volumes of media files\n\nAdvanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere (After Effects or motion graphics experience a plus, but not primary)\n\nAbility to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently\n\nStrong written and verbal communication skills\n\nExperience working cross‑functionally with marketing, social or brand teams\n\nBackground in travel, outdoor, lifestyle or sports content a plus\n\nWork Environment\n\nOn‑site, Berkeley, CA\n\n4 days in‑office, 1 day work from home\n\nThis is not a field‑production role, therefore this role does not travel to shoot footage on‑trip\n\nAbout Backroads\nAt Backroads we’re passionate about connecting our guests with so many of the most beautiful places in the world.
