School Social Worker (Special Education Focus)Position: School Social WorkerLocation: Black River Public SchoolEmployment Type: Full TimePosition Overview: Black River is seeking a full-time School Social Worker. This position will primarily support secondary students in grades 6 - 12 receiving special education services and will work as a member of multidisciplinary teams to address students' social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs in accordance with IDEA and district guidelines.Key Responsibilities:Provide social work services to students with IEPs, including individual and group counselingParticipate as a member of IEP teams, including attending meetings and contributing to social-emotional and behavioral goal developmentConduct social-developmental histories and other required components of special education evaluations, as appropriateSupport implementation and monitoring of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and social-emotional IEP goalsCollaborate with special education teachers, general education staff, administrators, and related service providersProvide consultation to staff regarding student behavior, social-emotional needs, and trauma-informed practicesCommunicate and collaborate with families regarding student progress and support strategiesMaintain required documentation and ensure compliance with state and federal special education regulationsProvide crisis intervention and support as neededQualifications:Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) requiredValid Michigan School Social Worker certification/license requiredExperience working with students receiving special education services preferredKnowledge of IDEA, IEP processes, and behavioral support frameworksStrong collaboration, communication, and organizational skillsApplication Procedure: Apply OnlineSchool Description: Black River Public School is an independent, non-profit college-preparatory charter school serving grades K-12.
