AI / Machine Learning Engineer – Federal Programs (Remote)

You’ll help design and deploy production-grade AI systems operating at national scale, where performance, security, and reliability are essential.We are expanding our AI/ML team to support active and upcoming federal programs, including data-driven analytics, intelligent systems, and mission-focused applications.The RoleWe are building a talent pipeline of exceptional AI/ML Engineers to support current and upcoming federal contracts. Selected candidates will be matched to active task orders as they are awarded, with priority placement on our highest-profile federal AI programs.What You'll Do• Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models and AI pipelines for federal mission systems• Build LLM-integrated applications, NLP solutions, and deep learning tools for biomedical and scientific programs• Support NIH/NLM biomedical informatics, clinical data analytics, and scientific computing initiatives• Develop predictive models using Python (scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, XGBoost) on large-scale datasets• Deploy and scale ML pipelines on AWS, Azure, and GCP in FISMA-compliant government cloud environments• Ensure all AI outputs meet federal security, privacy (FISMA, HIPAA), and compliance standardsWhat We're Looking ForRequired:• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)• 3+ years of hands-on ML/AI development (Python, TensorFlow/PyTorch, scikit-learn)• Strong foundation in statistical modeling, machine learning, and large-scale data analysis• Experience with SQL, PySpark, or equivalent big data processing• Experience building or integrating LLM-based applications, including prompt engineering, RAG pipelines, and agent-based workflows (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, or similar platforms)Strongly Preferred:• Active federal security clearance (Secret or higher)• Experience working with federal agencies (NIH, HHS, DoD, DOE, or similar)• Biomedical informatics, clinical data, or health IT experience• LLM/generative AI experience — RAG pipelines, fine-tuning, prompt engineering• Experience in FISMA-Moderate or FedRAMP-authorized environments• Publications, patents, or open-source contributions in AI/MLBonus PointsActive Secret clearance preferred; ability to obtain is requiredCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive salary based on experience and clearance level + comprehensive benefits (health, 401k, PTO)How to ApplyWe review applications on a rolling basis and reach out when a matching opportunity arises:• Email your resume to: lwang@techfocususa.com• Subject line: AI/ML Engineer — [Your Name]• Optional: Include GitHub, Google Scholar, or links to published workTechFocus LLC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
