This position will be responsible for maintaining the database infrastructure of our production, dev/test, and disaster recovery environments to ensure stability and performance requirements are met; managing backup and off-site replication; managing patching and upgrades; building out an AWS-based Postgres architecture.\nThis is a full-time position in our Raleigh, NC office. The work schedule for this role is Monday-Friday in the office with the option to work from home one day per week. #LI-KO1\nWHAT YOU'LL BE DOING\nAdministration of PostgreSQL and MySQL databases throughout the development and production lifecycles\nDevelop and maintain processes for optimizing database security and standards\nPerform upgrades using proper lifecycle management and testing\nManage backup and recovery functions for a PostgreSQL environment\nMonitors performance issues on all production and non-production databases (as applicable) implementing performance monitoring and trending on all production and applicable non-production databases\nAssist development groups in optimizing SQL statements in applications, batch jobs, and reports and in designing and using databases and database applications and processes for maximum performance, security, reliability, and availability.\nCross-training in NoSQL database administration (Cassandra and MongoDB)\nCreate automation for repeating database tasks\n24x7 on-call rotation for critical system issues\nCoordinate with engineering teams to keep database software up-to-date\nWHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR\nBS in Computer Science or IT related field\n4+ years of IT experience\n3+ years Relational Database Administrator (working with PostgreSQL 14+, MySQL 8)\nWorking knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL / MySQL / MSSQL) Architecture\nWorking knowledge of Cloud Platforms RDS / CloudSQL (Postgres, MySQL, and Aurora)\nMongoDB Experience is a plus\nScripting experience, Shell, Python are a plus\n3+ years of experience in any other database administration is a plus\nStrong communication and interaction skills\nEagerness to continue learning\nABOUT IXL LEARNING\nIXL Learning is the country's largest EdTech company.
