The Cardiac Sonographer presents a pleasing and helpful manner to the patient, physicians, visitors, members of the department, and all other medical personnel. The Cardiac Sonographer exhibits courteous behavior when addressing the general public and outside hospital related agencies. The Cardiac Sonographer supports and contributes to departmental and hospital objectives by functioning as a technologist in all aspects of echocardiography.Essential FunctionsPerforms transthoracic echocardiograms (2D, 3D, M‑Mode, Doppler, Color Flow, Strain)Performs stress echocardiogramsPerforms contrast enhanced echocardiogramsAssists with transesophageal echocardiograms (Depending on facility)Performs patient assessmentPerforms quality controlPerforms cardiac stress testing (Depending on facility)Performs EKG’s, and places Holter monitorsPerforms equipment cleaning and maintenanceProvides patient, family, hospital staff, and physician educationOther FunctionsMaintains compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conductComplies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all timesPerforms other duties as assignedEducationAdditional Job Description:Associate Degree in Allied Health or Certificate from an accredited Cardiac Sonography Program (required)Experience1 year Echocardiography experience or equivalent (required)LicensureCardiac Sonographer registry required within six months of employment (ARDMS or CCI) (required)CertificationAmerican Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (required)
