Applicants should be aware of the specific functions of the position prior to employmentConsistent and punctual "on site" attendance at the worksite is an essential job functionTypes, draws, writes and duplicates instructional material; makes educational games and aidsListens to students read, and reads to studentsHelps students with make-up workAssists in individual or group activities, games, flash cards, computers, etc.Assists students in interpreting and following directions of teacherDrills - to reinforce any skill the teacher has taughtAlerts teacher to needs of studentsAssists teacher in checking progress of individualized study projectsSupervises lunchroom, playground, halls, classrooms and other assigned activitiesPrepares bulletin boards, charts, and graphsAssists with the physical and health needs of students, such as feeding and toiletingAssists with augmentative communication/electronic devices, and be willing to be trained for useChecks bus before each operation for mechanical defects and notifies the proper authorities in the case of mechanical failureFollows guidelines for loading/unloading studentsTransports only authorized studentsObeys all traffic laws; observes all mandatory safety regulations for school busesKeeps to assigned scheduleMaintains discipline when students are on the bus/van and reports undisciplined students to the proper authorityDischarges students only at authorized stopsKeeps assigned bus cleanReports all accidents and advises about all possible safety problemsTransfers and positions students with physical disabilitiesDoes miscellaneous typing and filingInventories books, materials and equipmentAssists when emergencies arisePerforms other delegated non-instructional responsibilities assigned by teacher or administratorOTHER REQUIREMENTS (Intellectual, Sensory):Effective oral and written communication skillsSkills in organization, leadership and human relationsVisual and auditory skills for dealing with students
