Sales / Application Engineer

Job Title: Sales/ Application EngineerReports To: General ManagerExempt / Non-Exempt: ExemptJOB SUMMARY: The Sales Application Engineer will be responsible for overall business development for thecompany, with a primary focus on their respective engineered product group. This role will include, but not be limited to, acquisition of new sales opportunities, technical/commercial quoting, product development and improvements, and positioning the products to fulfill market and customer related needs to grow the group. The position includes direct interface with existing/prospective customers, internal engineering support, manufacturing resources and other sales personnel.Major Areas Of ResponsibilitiesEvaluate customer needs via interactive discovery process or via drawings and specification provided to create sales opportunitiesBuild customer base through cold call, email, and direct engagement of prospective customersGather supplier and internal pricing data to support proposal activity and produce technical commercial proposalsTracks proposal metrics and maintains historical performance dataDirect follow-up on proposals and related projects and maintenance of customer relationshipsLiaison support to Engineering, Purchasing, Assembly, and Test/Field Service groupsAttend Product Group related association and trade show activitiesInterface with Marketing Group to support product group promotional effortsInterface and support other sales personnel's business development activities50% domestic travelCreate technical white papers for submission to technical journals and periodicalsGeneral business development activities to Increase product group revenueMinimum Qualifications10 years' heavy industrial capital equipment experience In the steel, aluminum, scrap metals, and/or mining industriesMechanical Engineering degree, post-secondary technical certification or equivalent work experienceAbility to read and understand mechanical drawings and related drawing tolerance designationsWorking knowledge and experience using AutoCad and/or SolidWorks engineering software for visual concept drawings, presentations and to support technical and commercial offersUnderstanding of market and customer baseStrong customer service and relationship development skillsVerbal, writing and presentation skillsAbility to communicate using all forms of mediaAbility to travel via any common mode of transportationExperience In technical proposal writingExperience with MS Office productsStrong problem solving skillsAbility to understand hydraulic controls & schematicsAbility to understand electrical machine controls and control schemesPreferred QualificationsHeavy steel fabricating and machining estimating experienceEssential Physical Functions NeededUnrestricted walking into company production facility, Customer factories and other public venuesUnrestricted vision and hearing with or without corrective aidsExposure to fumes, noise, and changes in temperatureHand dexterity; may require light lifting and hands on work with basic hand toolsNesco Resource offers a comprehensive benefits package for our associates, which includes a MEC (Minimum Essential Coverage) plan that encompasses Medical, Vision, Dental, 401K, and EAP (Employee Assistance Program) services.Nesco Resource provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.
