Success is defined as the timely delivery of requested tests, efficient use of equipment, proper training and development of personnel, fostering a team environment, ability to adapt quickly to change, minimization of risk and compliance with specifications, organizational policies, procedures, and ethical standards.\r\nResponsibilities:\r\nContinuous quality improvement of all lab processes.\r\nCollaborate with the ALAM to ensure MTC is operating efficiently.\r\nCreate, maintain, and communicate laboratory schedule to appropriate stakeholders.\r\nCreate mix design blends.\r\nEstablish and maintain a positive working relationship with all customers.\r\nEnsure testing is completed by the dates requested by our customers.\r\nPerform accurate and timely billing of all testing.\r\nPerform testing as needed to meet customer requirements.\r\nEnsures all test data for accuracy and critically evaluate results.\r\nVerify that all mix designs meet or exceed job specifications prior to submittal.\r\nBe an expert with the operation and maintenance of all laboratory equipment.\r\nEnsure compliance by utilizing SOPs, test methods and safety protocol.\r\nEnsure equipment is inventoried, calibrated, and all documentation is available as needed.\r\nEnsure lab is stocked with supplies.\r\nMaintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to ensure efficient operation.\r\nMaintain MTC by regularly cleaning and inspecting all areas of the lab.\r\nMaintain AASHTO accreditation of the laboratory.\r\nAddress staff performance concerns and issues in a timely manner.\r\nAssist ALAM with hiring as needed.\r\nDevelop direct report capability and provide support for career development.\r\nTrain all lab personnel in their assigned tasks and ensure they maintain required certifications.\r\nAssist with research and development.\r\nEnsure technician schedule is efficient and appropriate for workload.\r\nRequirements:\r\nHigh School Diploma or GED equivalent.\r\nDemonstrates problem solving skills.\r\nProven ability to effectively train, evaluate and communicate with others.\r\nProven ability to oversee multiple and/or complex projects simultaneously.\r\nMust be proficient with computers, the Microsoft suite of programs, and an understanding of current technology trends.\r\nMust demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.\r\nValid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record.\r\nAble to lift 50 - 75 lbs. and stand for long periods of time.\r\nPreferred Skills:\r\n1 + years' experience in inspection and testing of road and paving materials and construction; satisfactorily directed testing or inspection services, or both, of road and paving materials is acceptable.\r\nHolds or is qualified for a current WisDOT HMA-TPC (WI), IDOT - HMA II (IL), or MDOT (MI) certification.\r\nThe Benefits:\r\nCompetitive compensation aligned with industry standards\r\nEmployer Paid Medical Plan with HRA contribution (eligibility requirements)\r\nDental, Vision, and Life Insurance\r\nFlex Spending Account (FSA)\r\nEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)\r\nCompany-paid short and long-term disability coverage\r\nPaid parental leave\r\nGenerous PTO and paid holidays\r\nProfit sharing\r\nRobust Walbec training and professional development program\r\nOngoing career growth opportunities\r\nWe are an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Affirmative Action employer, and it is our practice to provide equal employment opportunities to all qualified applicants.
