Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role for a Tamper Operator based in Geismar, LA. The Tamper Operator will be responsible for operating & maintaining surfacing equipment to compact and align railroad tracks, ensuring proper placement and stability. Daily tasks include performing machine inspections, maintaining safety protocols during operations, and collaborating with team members to complete construction and maintenance projects efficiently. The role requires working outdoors in various weather conditions and adhering to strict safety standards. Qualifications Proficiency in operating tamping machines and knowledge of railroad track maintenance equipmentExperience inspecting, maintaining, and troubleshooting mechanical equipmentStrong understanding of safety standards and protocols in railroad construction and maintenancePhysical fitness and the ability to work in outdoor environments under varying weather conditionsValid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as neededStrong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with crew membersPrior experience in railroad construction or maintenance is a plusHigh school diploma or GEDMinimum experience three years required operating a Jackson 6700 or equivalent.
