The LPN will perform resident care in routine nursing situations and will assist in complex nursing situations under the direction of the RN or provider. This practice includes dependent, interdependent and independent functions.Job Specifications:Completion of an accredited diploma in nursing and have successfully passed NCLEX-PN.Requires current MN licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse.Must have valid Driver’s license.Must be certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire or within 3 months of hireEssential Functions:Supports nursing care standards through adherence to existing policies and proceduresConducts and documents nursing assessments of health status by collecting objective and subjective data from observations, exams, interviews and written records; sorting, selecting, reporting and recording the data; validating, refining, and modifying the data.Prepare and administer medications as prescribed with the ability to question medication orders based on resident conditionIdentify and report abnormal findings or status changes to the providerEfficiently and accurately document pertinent items in the resident’s electronic medical record (EMR) which may include but is not limited to admission questionnaire, assessment, vital signs, medication administration, care plan, education, nursing interventions, ADLs, and patient goalsHas a thorough understanding of how to use available medical equipment and seeks out answers with questions in regards to equipmentResponds to life-saving situations based upon nursing standardsEnsures adequate staffing is scheduled for the floor and medication carts.Observe nursing cares and visits with residents frequently to assure that quality care is carried out according to care plan and resident/family choices.Requirements:Required Skills/Abilities:Professional communication with residents, visitors, and all members of the healthcare teamRecognize safety hazards and take corrective actionTreat others with respectEffectively delegate appropriate tasks and responsibilitiesAbility to create a caring, compassionate relationships with residents and visitorsUse of evidence-based practiceFlexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call dutyExcellent attention to detail and time management skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsProficiency in electronic medical record and computer skillsPhysical Requirements:Ability to withstand prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending, and reachingAbility to work on a computer while sitting or standingPerform repetitive hand movementsWork on wet/damp surfacesAbility to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, crouch, kneel, balance, push, and pullMust be able to lift up to 50 pounds at timesMay be exposed to infectious diseases and occupational dangersMust be able to withstand physical, emotional, and mental stressAbility to reach below, at, or above shoulder levelAbility to understand and distinguish speech and/or other soundsAbility to detect and inspect surroundings
