Health And Safety Officer

We’re seeking an experienced Health and Safety Officer (HSO) to support project teams by implementing and maintaining a strong, proactive safety culture. This role is hands-on and field-focused, responsible for executing site-specific health and safety programs in accordance with OSHA standards, client requirements, and company policies and procedures. Proven experience, sound judgment, and leadership in safety practices are essential.ResponsibilitiesImplement and enforce the site-specific Health and Safety Plan (HASP), client safety programs, and company policies.Deliver safety orientation and training for employees, subcontractors, vendors, and site visitors.Serve as a safety leader and mentor, promoting best practices and a strong safety culture.Coordinate with Superintendents to ensure Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs/JSAs) properly address site activities and risks.Conduct ongoing site safety inspections and maintain a strong field presence.Maintain clear, accurate, and timely safety documentation (logs, inspections, training records).Assign PPE in accordance with the HASP, JSAs, and Respiratory Protection Program.Act as a HAZWOPER competent person on site.Support incident investigations, audits, and compliance efforts under direction of senior safety leadership.Assist in preparation and review of permits and JSAs.Perform additional duties as assigned.QualificationsSolid knowledge of construction operations, equipment, and site hazards.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Proficiency with computers and electronic documentation.Ability to work effectively with project teams, clients, subcontractors, and regulators.High level of integrity, accountability, and professionalism.Self-motivation and commitment to continuous professional development.Ability to meet company driving requirements and travel to project sites as assigned.Required Experience & EducationMinimum of 3 years of related health and safety experience.High School diploma with specialized safety training or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field (preferred).Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.Ability to mobilize to project sites, including assignments requiring travel.Preferred (Not Required)CPR / First Aid certificationOSHA 501 certificationProfessional certifications such as GSP, ASP, CSP, CHST, CIHEmergency Medical Responder (EMR)TravelTravel to remote project site is required.EOE
