General Superintendent (Field Operations Lead) - ConstructionWhitewright, TXFull Time, Permanent & OnsiteJob DescriptionPosition SummaryThe General Superintendent provides overall leadership, direction, and accountability for all field operations across the company’s construction projects. This role is responsible for establishing and enforcing field execution standards related to safety, quality, productivity, and schedule performance. The General Superintendent directly oversees all Superintendents and serves as the primary field operations partner to the VP of Operations and Project Management team, ensuring consistent, disciplined project delivery.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesProvide direct leadership, oversight, and accountability for all Superintendents and field personnelEstablish, communicate, and enforce company-wide field operations standards, procedures, and best practicesEnsure all projects are executed in accordance with approved schedules, budgets, and construction plansLead field planning efforts, including site logistics, work sequencing, manpower planning, and weekly look-ahead schedulesPartner with Project Managers to align field execution with project cost, schedule, and contract requirementsServe as the primary escalation point for field-related issues, conflicts, or performance concernsDrive field productivity by setting clear expectations and holding Superintendents accountable for crew performanceOversee implementation of safety programs in coordination with the Safety Coordinator, ensuring compliance with company, client, and regulatory requirementsConduct regular site visits to monitor progress, safety performance, quality, and adherence to plans and specificationsParticipate in hiring, evaluating, coaching, and, when necessary, recommending disciplinary action or termination of field personnelLead training and development of Superintendents and Foremen to improve leadership capability and execution consistencyEnsure proper coordination between subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and internal teamsSupport project start-up, turnover, and closeout activities from a field operations perspectivePromote a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement within field operationsPerform other field leadership duties as assigned by the VP of Operations or OwnerQualificationsMinimum of 10–15 years of experience in construction field operations, preferably in industrial or heavy commercial constructionProven experience leading Superintendents or large, multi-discipline field teamsStrong understanding of construction means and methods, sequencing, and productivity driversDemonstrated ability to enforce standards, address underperformance, and lead difficult conversationsAbility to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and contractsStrong leadership, communication, and decision-making skillsAbility to work collaboratively with Project Managers, safety personnel, and executive leadershipRequired Certifications and TrainingOSHA 30-hour Construction Safety certification (required)CPR / First Aid certification (required or obtainable upon hire)Company-specific safety orientation and leadership trainingAdditional supervisory or leadership training preferredTools & TechnologyProficiency with basic computer applications (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel)Experience with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, or similar) preferredAbility to review and utilize digital schedules, reports, and project documentationCompany-provided communication devices and technology for field coordinationExperienceTypically 10–15+ years of progressive field experience in constructionPrior experience as a Superintendent on complex or large-scale projectsDemonstrated track record of successfully managing multiple projects or work fronts simultaneouslyExperience mentoring and developing field leadership personnelPhysical RequirementsFrequent presence on active construction sitesAbility to walk uneven terrain, climb ladders and stairs, and work in varying weather conditionsAbility to stand, bend, and move throughout the workdayMust wear required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest, steel-toe boots, and other site-specific PPE)Work EnvironmentPrimarily field-based with time spent visiting multiple project sitesExposure to typical construction hazards, including heavy equipment, noise, dust, and varying weather conditionsWork hours may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, or extended hours based on project demandsSupervisionReports directly to the Vice President of OperationsProvides direct supervision to all Superintendents and field personnelWorks closely with Project Managers, Safety Coordinator, and Estimating/Preconstruction staffSafety ExpectationsActively lead and support the company’s safety cultureEnsure compliance with all company, client, and regulatory safety policiesParticipate in and lead safety meetings, site orientations, and incident reviewsEmpower Superintendents and Foremen to identify hazards and stop work when unsafe conditions existBenefitsIRAIRA matching up to 3%Health insurancePaid time offPaid HolidaysCompany VehiclePer Diem $125 a day if staying out of townThanks & Regards,Saiyed R (Daniel)Executive RecruiterBrightpath Associates LLC
