QC Microbiologist

RFI Ingredients is seeking a Microbiologist to join our QC lab in Broomfield, CO. RFI Ingredients is an industry leading contract manufacturer of food and supplements. We are looking for a microbiologist who is familiar with testing in a wide variety of food matrices and who is able to manage a fairly high sample throughput while still producing highly accurate data. Good candidates will be organized and efficient and will have strong written and verbal communication skills. Schedule: Must be able to work at least one full weekend day. The schedule for this position will be either Sunday to Thursday or Tuesday to Saturday, 8:00AM to 4:30PM. The primary responsibilities of this position are: Routine analysis of raw materials, in process materials, and finished products for APC, Coliforms, Yeast and Mold, Staph, Salmonella, and E. coli. Cleaning, organizing, and maintaining the micro lab. Preparing and sterilizing media. Maintaining and monitoring positive pathogen controls. Scheduling holiday and vacation coverage for the micro lab. Logging all data and activities using proper documentation techniques. Responding to OOS results and determining the final disposition of OOS materials. Advising other staff regarding micro questions. Overseeing the micro lab environmental monitoring program. Writing and revising SOPs. Evaluating, developing, and validating new micro methods as needed. Overseeing contract laboratories used for microbiological testing. Requirements: Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Microbiology, or a related field with 3-5 years of experience in a working lab. Experience in Quality Control and Food or Supplement Microbiology preferred. Experience with BioMerieux TEMPO and VIDAS systems preferred.
