The DC team develops the core APIs used by all devices on our platform to control, react to, onboard, and list devices. This team is at the center of our IoT strategy, which continuously evolves to meet customer expectations, new standards, compliance and certification requirements, and business growth. In this role you’d have the opportunity to work on high-impact projects in a fast-paced, high visibility environment with a team of high performing engineers.\n\nThis role is hybrid, 3 days/week in our Minneapolis Office (on iconic St Anthony Main across from Downtown...with attached parking at no cost to you!)\n\nThe pay range for this role is $97,000 to $132,000, with an annual bonus target of 20%.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nAs a member of the Device Core Team, you will contribute to:\nImplementing microservices surrounding devices, the device's last known state, and their events.\nBeing attentive to devices, event volume and user requests (~250M /hr) as well as help implement corrective measures for scalability, reliability and performance.\nAbstracting the basic building blocks of a device into reusable pieces on the platform.\nFacilitating the many ways a device can be incorporated into a user account.\nMaintaining the communication between the device and the SmartThings platform.\n\nSkills, Knowledge & Expertise\n\nMinimum Qualifications:\nBS or MS Degree in Computer Science or related discipline.\n2+ years of experience demonstrating proficiency in Java, Kotlin, object-oriented design, and/or C-based/inspired programming languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Go, C++, Rust, etc.\nExposure to modern non-blocking/asynchronous server frameworks like Micronaut, Sprint Boot, Node.js, Spring WebFlux, etc.\nComfortable developing and understanding of an existing codebase in order to implement new features.\nExperience with microservice architecture and service-to-service interconnectability.\nExperience with Linux systems.\nExperience in developing RESTful APIs.\nExperience operating production services in a cloud-based environment like AWS or GCP.\nThrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with asynchronous server-side programming.\nExperience with NoSQL databases such DynamoDB.\nExperience with Kafka.\nExperience with IoT device applications.\n\nSmartThings Benefits\n\nWe offer an attractive compensation package with comprehensive health benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and mental health; an HSA with employer contribution; life & disability insurance; FSAs for health and dependent care expenses; a competitive 401k with a 5% employer match, and more.\nAll of our employees enjoy unlimited PTO, 12 paid holidays, and a generous parental leave policy (8 weeks fully paid parental leave and 8 more fully paid weeks for childbirth recovery leave).\nEligible employees benefit from our education reimbursement program, and all employees enjoy access to learning resources through O’Reilly.\nOur commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging is embedded into our culture and our work, and everyone has frequent opportunities to join forums and groups and participate in ongoing projects.\nWe offer a parking stipend to cover the monthly garage cost.
