Preferably knowledge of fasteners. Someone who is well versed in continuous improvements, reductions in cost, improvements in efficiencies. This person will be in the manufacturing operations department but work closely with quality as continuous improvement extends quality into cost savings, time improvements. Key items to look for are Six Sigma Black belt (can be a green belt), LEAN, 5S or 6S, Process Mapping.\n\nA Continuous Improvement (CI) Engineer in a fastener manufacturing environment focuses on eliminating waste, reducing variation in high-volume production, and optimizing tooling lifespans. They act as the bridge between the shop floor and management, translating data into actionable, cost-saving solutions\n\nEssential characteristics and competencies for this role include:\n1. Fastener-Specific Technical Knowledge\n\nMetal Forming Expertise: Understanding of CNC Swiss screw machining, knowledge of threads major/minor diameter, and heat treating processes.\nTooling & Die Management: Focus on maximizing tool life and utilizing methodologies like SMED (Single Minute Exchange of Die) to minimize setup and changeover times.\nDimensional & Quality Control: Ability to utilize and implement SPC (Statistical Process Control) to monitor critical dimensions (e.g., thread pitch diameter, tensile strength, torque limits).\n2. Core Methodologies & Analytical Skills\n\nLean & Six Sigma Mastery: Proficiency in root cause analysis, value stream mapping, process mapping, 5S, and DMAIC methodologies.\nData-Driven Decision Making: Relies on data analysis tools (such as Minitab or ERP system data) rather than assumptions to drive improvements.\nMistake-Proofing (Poka-Yoke): Designing physical or automated mechanisms to prevent defects-critical for safety-critical fasteners in the automotive or aerospace industries.\n3. Soft Skills & Change Management\n\nShop Floor Empathy: The ability to listen to machine operators and setup technicians to identify process bottlenecks and physical frustrations.\nCross-Functional Leadership: Skill in leading diverse teams (maintenance, quality, supply chain, and production) without direct authority.\nChange Agent Presence: Possesses the diplomacy and resilience required to drive a \"zero-defect\" culture and achieve operator buy-in.\n4. Continuous Improvement Tools\nTo succeed, a CI Engineer utilizes a specific set of standard tools to standardize work and sustain progress.\n\nStandard Work: Creating clear, repeatable, and visual instructions for operators.\nOEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness): Monitoring and analyzing availability, performance, and quality of heading machines and secondary operation equipment.\nMust have experience as an Engineer in a CNC environment\nSNC Swiss machining experience would be a plus\nMust be willing to travel to 8 different locations in the US.\nMust have a Degree in Engineering\n\nBy applying for this job, you agree to receive calls, Al-generated calls, text messages, or emails from Synerfac Technical Staffing and our contracted partners.
