This position will start with a 2-month training period in the HQ of Berkeley, California. The person hired for this role will be a key member of the team supporting the installation and commissioning of WAAM cells being co-located with shipbuilding customers in Virginia. This person will be able to provide feedback on facility layout, WAAM cell designs, and testing and validation. This Manufacturing engineer will report directly to Solideon’s Vice President of Engineering and work directly with stakeholders on the East Coast as needed to create a streamlined operational flow.\n\nAs Solideon’s 1st engineering hire on the East Coast, you will be responsible for operating the Aperture cell and overseeing the timely completion of customer builds. This role is collaborative as the candidate will work with welding, robotics, software engineers, and operations and sales team members to realize first-of-kind wire arc additive manufacturing. Strong, collaborative relationships with peers and leaders across the company are critical.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nCoordinate the testing and validation efforts for internal and external stakeholders\n\nManage, operate, and maintain the Aperture cell, and oversee the timely completion of customer builds\n\nProvide engineering support for design and process improvements, enhancing efficiency, quality, and cost effectiveness for both new and existing processes\n\nDesign and execute commercial 3d printing using CAD and algorithmic design tools\n\nExperience designing, implementing, and optimizing custom tool path workflows\n\nAnalyze and resolve manufacturing discrepancies, collaborating with the quality team on root cause analysis and corrective actions\n\nLead the safety and security practices related to the Aperture cell and manufacturing\n\nQualifications\n\nA degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Design, Architecture, or equivalent experience.\n\nPrior experience with Grasshopper 3D\n\n3+ Years of experience with CAD/CAM systems\n\n2+ Years of experience with additive manufacturing processes.\n\nMust be a US citizen\n\nAble to get a security clearance on an as-needed basis\n\nPreferred but not required\n\n1+ years of customer-facing engineering experience\n\nProgramming and scripting in Python, C#, C++, or G-Code\n\nExperience with CNC machining and subtractive processes\n\nHands-on experience with metal fabrication methods like welding\n\nHistory of working in quality environments such as ITAR, AS9100D, or ISO 9001\n\nFamiliarity with Lean Six Sigma practices\n\nWhy Solideon?\n\nJoin a dynamic, forward-thinking team at the cutting edge of advanced manufacturing.\n\nContribute to innovative projects that aim to reshape the future of production.\n\nEqual Opportunity Employer\nSolideon values diversity and inclusivity.
