The hours are Monday—Thursday 3:00–6:00 pm and Fridays 11:30 am–5:00 pm, with opportunities to work additional hours during special events, conference/vacation camps, substitute teaching, and summer camp programs. Our After School Program Assistants work with students of various ages. Assistants should be comfortable working with children ranging in age from 18 months to 12 years old (with the majority of students we work with being between 18 months and 7 years old).\nStrong candidates will have:\nA commitment to creating and sustaining an inclusive, equitable, positive classroom environment where all students feel a sense of belonging.\nA collaborative approach; able to work well within a team.\nBring creativity, flexibility, and enthusiasm to each day by actively participating alongside students, adapting activities to meet their interests and needs, and creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging after-school environment where every child feels connected and excited to participate.\nAbility to make informed and sound judgments regarding students’ well-being and safety.\nDemonstrate exceptional multitasking, communication, and situational awareness by maintaining active supervision and knowing the whereabouts of all assigned students at all times while communicating promptly and proactively with the Associate Director of Auxiliary Programs and the Director of Student Life & Strategic Programs regarding incidents, injuries, behavioral concerns, safety issues, and noteworthy student successes or challenges to ensure every child has a safe, positive, and well-supported experience.\nExcellent classroom management skills.\nAbility to communicate clearly and professionally with parents of our students about their child's activities while under your care.\nA Note to Potential Candidates:\nStudies have shown that women, trans, non-binary folks and BIPOC are less likely to apply for jobs unless they believe they meet every single one of the qualifications as described in the job description.
