Private Equity Sales Associate - Job DescriptionPosition OverviewCapstone is seeking a dynamic and motivated Private Equity Sales Associate to join our team. This role offers a structured career progression from mastering basic business development operations and administrative tasks to driving revenue through directly interacting with Private Equity professionals and employing business development initiatives.Position Structure & ProgressionPhase 1: Foundation BuildingMaster all basic administrative tasks and operational processes ("blocking & tackling")Complete comprehensive training programsDevelop deep understanding of Capstone's value proposition and client basePhase 2: Revenue GenerationBegin directly driving revenue through client interactionsLead prospecting initiatives and client developmentExecute on business development strategies and ideasKey ResponsibilitiesBusiness Development & Market ResearchIdentify and profile new PE firms and prospectsConduct market mapping across TMT, software, HCIT, and ESG sectorsTrack deal flow and competitive landscapeResearch portfolio companies and investment activityBuild comprehensive client maps including AUM, dry powder, and deal preferencesAdministrative CapabilityMaster Salesforce, PitchBook, and Peakload platformsLog all client calls and maintain data accuracyCreate and maintain marketing campaigns for new and high-priority focus areasManage opportunities through the sales pipelineAdd new contacts and prospects to the database, ensuring CRM data integrity and completenessUpdate client interest profiles after each interactionManage pipeline updatesHandle event RSVPs and client registrationsProcess legal documents (NDAs, joinders, non-reliance letters)Client Relationship ManagementParticipate in client calls (Virtual Meetings, QRs, Intro calls, Project Readouts)Conduct targeted outreach to prospective clientsSchedule and coordinate client meetings and introductionsMaintain relationships with Tier 1, 2, and 3 clientsMove warm leads through the sales funnelKnowledge DevelopmentStay current on energy and finance research publicationsAttend relevant industry conference calls and eventsDevelop expertise in PE transaction processes and timelinesMaintain knowledge of market trends and deal activityClient Marketing Support:Help lead preparation for client meetingsMaintain marketing collateral, ensuring analyst team provides monthly updates and refreshesMonitor and post LinkedIn deal announcements by scanning periodically for relevant transactionsMaintain framework presentations and deal tombstonesDatabase Maintenance & Market Intelligence:Maintain Non-Reliance Letters (NRL) database for each transactionKeep client matrix updated in real-time, tracking personnel changes and new hiresMonitor client team movements to other firmsSystematically track MergerMarket, Pitchbook, and other deal platformsEnsure comprehensive deal chasing and identification of hot subsectorsAdd prospects to relevant Salesforce campaigns based on market activityRequired Skills & QualificationsTechnical ProficienciesExperience with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred)Proficiency in PitchBook and financial databasesStrong Excel and PowerPoint skillsUnderstanding of private equity transaction processesCore CompetenciesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong organizational and time management abilitiesDetail-oriented with high accuracy standardsAbility to build and maintain professional relationshipsProactive and self-motivated work styleAnalytical thinking and problem-solving skillsProcess improvement mindset with ability to identify efficiency opportunitiesStrong follow-through and ability to manage multiple concurrent projectsExperience with database management and data hygiene best practicesIndustry KnowledgeUnderstanding of private equity and M&A processesFamiliarity with software market dynamics (preferred)Knowledge of financial markets and investment terminologyCompensation & BenefitsCapstone offers a competitive benefits package, including health, vision, dental insurance, paid vacation, travel stipend and 401(k).
