Referrals Supervisor
Established in 1980, the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center (GLFHC) is a multi-site mission-driven non-profit organization employing over 700 staff whose primary focus is providing the highest quality patient care to residents throughout the Merrimack Valley. Nationally recognized as a leader in community medicine (family practice, pediatrics, internal medicine, and geriatrics), GLFHC has clinical sites throughout the service area and is the sponsoring organization for the Lawrence Family Medicine Residency program.
GLFHC is currently seeking a Referral Supervisor to join our Referrals team. This role is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Referral Department, ensuring timely and accurate processing of patient referrals, and leading a high-performing team that supports patient access to specialty care.
Key Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
Oversee daily operations of the Referral Department, ensuring timely processing and completion of all referrals
Monitor scheduling timelines for routine, ASAP, and STAT referrals to ensure patient access to care
Supervise, train, and support referral staff, including scheduling, performance management, and ongoing development
Ensure accurate coordination of referrals, authorizations, and communication with external specialist offices
Build and maintain strong relationships with specialty providers and external partners
Resolve patient, provider, and partner concerns, including escalated issues
Track, analyze, and report on referral metrics, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement
Support process improvement initiatives and implement workflow enhancements
Collaborate with internal departments to ensure efficient coordination of care
Travel between sites as needed to support operations
Qualifications
Associate's Degree in Business Administration or related field required; equivalent experience considered
5-10 years of healthcare experience required
Prior supervisory or leadership experience strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of referral processes, scheduling workflows, and patient access operations
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and healthcare systems
Spanish fluency required
Education
Associate's Degree required; Bachelor's Degree preferred
