Tasks may include basic assistance with the research, design, concept development, and construction of load-bearing structures or structural elements. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, structural soundness, and functionality.\n\nYour Impact\n\nPerform structural engineering work relating to the design of new concrete, concrete masonry (CMU), steel, metal stud, light-frame wood, and mass timber structures for residential, institutional, and commercial projects.\n\nDevelop structural engineering solutions to facilitate the re-use of existing building structures through structural retrofitting or resiliency assessments.\n\nIncorporate advanced modeling techniques, concept development, design requirements, and operating strategies to account for the safety and functionality of end-users, while also utilizing future-ready solutions with structural engineering design standards.\n\nContribute to project coordination through remote/in-person meetings, technical sketches, BIM modeling, and work site notebooks/logs.\n\nVerify the characteristics of a site, providing technical assistance on securing structural soundness from loads and pressures caused by environmental or human influence.\n\nPrepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, accurate reports, sketches, calculations, and 2D/3D illustrations for the interpretation or presentation of data, findings, or analyses.\n\nMaintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements, statistical analysis, and reporting.\n\nAssist with development and scoping of small to medium-sized projects.\n\nContribute to the preparation of technical reports and presentations that explain research and findings to improve, prevent, control, restore, or address design and/or construction issues or problems.\n\nConduct engineering studies and surveys to gain further information on a particular design and construction problem or issue and/or to plan for future needs.\n\nWrite technical reports summarizing research with findings and conclusions, generating complete, accurate, and concise documentation using sketches, calculations, electronic systems, spreadsheets, software, and 2D/3D illustrations.\n\nWork with cross-functional teams in executing project work.\n\nAssist with work plan preparation and coordination of site work.\n\nComplete training on assigned tasks.\n\nWork collaboratively with other engineers, professionals, and infrastructure authorities on Federal, State, regional, local, and privately funded improvement and development projects.\n\nExercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.\n\nPerform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.\n\nWho You Are\nRequired Qualifications\n\nBachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline.\n\n1 to 3 years of relevant post education experience\n\nKnowledge of structural engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to project work-related issues.\n\nFamiliarity with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management; including rehabilitation and new design.\n\nHighly familiar with relevant structural and civil construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.\n\nAnalytical mindset with an ability to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions.\n\nStrong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.\n\nCapable self-leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.\n\nAbility to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.\n\nBasic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, math principles, physics, predictive models, spreadsheets, and tools.\n\nExperience with discipline-specific design software (i.e., SAFE, ETABS, RAM Structural Systems, Sp Column, AutoCAD, Revit (BIM), Excel)\n\nProven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.\n\nAbility to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.\n\nOccasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\nEngineer in Training Certification.\n\nMaster's degree in Structural Engineering, or related.\n\nPrior internship related to the degree of study and specific engineering discipline.\n\nPrior design experience.\n\nFamiliarity with process and concepts for design/build.\n\nA member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.\n\nWSP Benefits:\nWSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits focused on providing health and financial stability throughout the employee’s career.
