The role also involves operational support for critical capacity restoration and ensuring network scalability and high availability.Role OverviewThis position focuses on managing and supporting large-scale optical networks within AWS’s global infrastructure. The engineer will work on high-capacity DWDM systems, ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance of the network.Key ResponsibilitiesDeploy, operate, and troubleshoot DWDM/optical network systemsSupport network capacity restoration and availabilityDiagnose and resolve complex network issuesParticipate in operational support, including on-call activitiesCollaborate across engineering teams (network, hardware, software)Contribute to automation and operational efficiency initiativesTop Required Skills (Must-Have)DWDM / Optical Network Experience – Hands-on experience with high-capacity optical systemsNetwork Troubleshooting – Strong problem-solving skills in optical networksProject/Time Management – Ability to manage multiple tasks effectivelyNice-to-Have SkillsAutomation scripting (Python, Bash, Shell, Perl)Network design and architecture knowledgeCross-platform integration experienceExperience Required5–8 years of relevant experienceBackground in telecom, ISPs, data centers, or large-scale enterprise networksExperience with DWDM, Optical Transport Networks (OTN), and fiber infrastructureExperience in 24/7 production/on-call environments
