Director of Mitigation

Job Description Position OverviewThe Director of Mitigation is responsible for leading and managing all day-to-day operations of the mitigation division, including water, fire, and mold services. This role oversees project managers, supervisors, and technicians while ensuring operational efficiency, profitability, and high levels of customer satisfaction. The Director of Mitigation works closely with the executive team and other department leaders to develop and implement standard operating procedures, improve performance metrics, and drive overall division growth.Key ResponsibilitiesOperations ManagementOversee daily operations of project managers and mitigation teamsLead and manage a team of 15–25 employees, including project managers, supervisors, and techniciansCreate, manage, and monitor service and production schedulesEnsure proper staffing levels across all active mitigation projectsDispatch and coordinate service crews as neededMaintain on-call schedules to ensure 24/7 coverageDevelop, revise, and implement policies, procedures, and guidelines across mitigation operationsEnsure consistency in processes and execution across all projectsMonitor labor efficiency and implement strategies to improve profitabilityOversee ordering, procurement, inventory, and material stocking for production teamsEvaluate and improve operational procedures based on organizational goalsEnsure all production work meets quality standards and complies with safety policiesDevelop and implement quality control programs and monitor corrective actionsDevelop and maintain emergency preparedness and operational continuity plansPerformance and Financial ManagementTrack, analyze, and improve key performance metrics for the divisionReview outgoing estimates for accuracy, compliance, and completenessReview profit and loss statements and accounts receivable reportsAdjust budgets and operational plans to improve profitabilityPartner with the collections team to ensure timely payment and reduce outstanding balancesLeadership and Team DevelopmentAssign quarterly objectives aligned with annual plans and budgets and hold managers accountableOversee training and development programs for mitigation staffConduct performance reviews for supervisors and techniciansAssist with recruiting, hiring, and onboarding production team membersDevelop leadership within the team and create growth opportunities for high performersFoster a positive, accountable, and growth-oriented culture across the divisionCommunication and CollaborationCollaborate with executive leadership and other division managers on company initiativesWork with the sales team to develop processes that drive revenue growthBuild and maintain strong relationships with internal leaders, customers, and key partnersEnsure clear communication between office staff, field teams, and leadershipRisk and Compliance ManagementAssess, analyze, and mitigate operational and financial risksEnsure all projects comply with company policies, safety standards, and industry requirementsProject and Customer OversightEnsure all mitigation projects are properly staffed and executedManage and oversee large-scale and high-value projectsEnsure high levels of customer satisfaction throughout all phases of workAdditional ResponsibilitiesMaintain confidentiality and professionalism in all aspects of the roleCommit to ongoing professional and leadership developmentTravel for storm events may be requiredQualificationsExperience in restoration, construction, or related industry requiredProven leadership experience managing teams and operationsStrong understanding of mitigation processes, estimating, and project managementExperience with financial reporting, including profit and loss and accounts receivableAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentStrong organizational, leadership, and communication skillsExperience with Xactimate or similar estimating platforms preferredWhat We Are Looking ForStrong leadership and decision-making abilitiesHigh level of accountability and ownershipAbility to drive performance and hold teams to standardsProcess-driven mindset with a focus on efficiency and profitabilityStrong communication and collaboration across departments
