You will work with your shift to safely produce high quality product in a fast pace continuous operation environment. The expectation for Level 1 operator is to deliver quality packaging and products for our customers.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nPlant and Environmental Safety\n\n* Lives the Safety Stand and meets all safety requirements. Safety is a condition of employment.\n* Take personal ownership to work safely and hold other team members to the same high standards of safety\n* Notify supervisor immediately of any accident, near miss or on- the -job injury when it occurs no matter how insignificant it may seem.\n* Participates in the safety, quality, autonomous maintenance, TPM and housekeeping programs as established within the plant; including but not limited to Focused Improvement Events, Safety Committee, Training, etc.\n* Performs job tasks to reduce environmental impact and adheres to the environmental regulations and recycling procedures for waste disposal.\n* Complies with all plant rules and safety regulations.\n* Performs cleanup duties at workstations and/or equipment/machinery.\n* Communicates safety concerns and/or equipment problems/abnormalities to appropriate personnel, maintaining strong communication with the appropriate line section operators to ensure immediate action is taken for product out of spec.\n* Inspect vehicles before use and throughout shift, keeping all equipment clean and operational.\n\nTPM\n\n* Participates in plant TPM initiatives - completing activities associated with TPM tasks (adheres to CILT standard, 5S).\n* Continues to use TPM methodology to gain a better understanding of the equipment.\n* Identifies and participates proactively in learning opportunities and develops expertise in those areas.\n* Utilizes Focus Improvement tools to problem solve.\n* Works to achieve zero injuries, zero defects and zero losses.\n* During PM days, uses time effectively to bring equipment to optimal condition for zero losses.\n* Maintain DM and Step Boards.\n\nQuality\n\n* Perform quality checks.\n* Maintain control panel – adjust speed, delays, and other timers if needed.\n* Interface with plant employees to provide quality control information.\n* Monitor and report unusual or suspect material issues.\n* Keep layout board updated.\n* Understand and react to upset conditions.\n* Evaluate all finished product for proper weight.\n\nProductivity\n\nBoth Processes:\n\n* Have a basic understanding of product process.\n* Operate both Palletizers.\n* Operate Shingle wrapper\n* Operate stretch wrappers for all pallets.\n* Operate banding equipment.\n* Follow IVC inventory processes; print and apply labels.\n* Weigh and report pallet weights.\n* Operate powered industrial vehicles (including forklifts, Mule, sweepers, and scrubbers).\n* Load and stack rewraps.\n* Accurately report the amount of scrap and seconds for tracking.\n* Adjust guide plates and speed for different products.\n* Cover all front-end employee outages (to cover vacation, holiday, call-offs, etc.).\n* Relieve crew members from duties for breaks.\n* Visibly verify completion and submission of all level 1 operator paperwork (LPA, FAI, Dimension, Pallet Count Sheet).\n* Insert cores into rolls.\n* Manage seconds, scrap, and trash.\n* Monitor equipment.\n* Listen for alarms and responds appropriately to the various alarm signals.\n* All other tasks or duties assigned by your leader.\n* Assist in all lace-up, product change, and color change procedures.\n* Perform preventive maintenance (PM) on down days.\n* Assist the shift mechanic on machine outages.\n\nOther\n\n* Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate.\n* Support the training and development of colleagues.\n* Demonstrates flexibility to changing priorities as business needs dictate.\n* Identifies and participates proactively in learning opportunities, and develops expertise in those areas.\n* Follows standard operating procedures and processes.\n* Can and is willing to make decisions.
