The ideal candidate has experience with mechanical maintenance, welding, equipment installation, and preventative maintenance in manufacturing, recycling, steel, or heavy industrial environments. This position requires the ability to work safely, diagnose equipment issues, and perform quality repairs to minimize downtime.\nKey Responsibilities:\nInstall, repair, maintain, and dismantle industrial machinery and mechanical equipment.\nPerform MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux-Core welding on structural steel, equipment, and machinery.\nRead and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.\nAlign, level, and install motors, conveyors, gearboxes, pumps, bearings, shafts, and other rotating equipment.\nFabricate replacement parts and perform equipment modifications as needed.\nDiagnose mechanical failures and perform timely repairs.\nReplace bearings, chains, sprockets, belts, couplings, and hydraulic and pneumatic components.\nPerform preventative and predictive maintenance to maximize equipment reliability.\nOperate forklifts, aerial lifts, cranes, and rigging equipment safely.\nFollow all OSHA and company safety policies, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.\nMaintain accurate maintenance records and communicate equipment issues with supervisors.\nQualifications:\n3+ years of experience as a Millwright, Industrial Mechanic, or Welder in a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment.\nProficient in MIG, Stick, and Flux-Core welding (TIG experience is a plus).\nStrong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.\nExperience with conveyors, motors, gearboxes, pumps, hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating equipment.\nAbility to read blueprints and mechanical drawings.\nFamiliarity with precision measuring tools and alignment procedures.\nAbility to lift up to 75 pounds and work in physically demanding environments.\nMust be willing to work overtime, weekends, and emergency call-ins as needed.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nMillwright apprenticeship or technical certification.\nExperience in scrap metal recycling, steel mills, foundries, or other heavy industrial facilities.\nExperience operating overhead cranes and rigging equipment.\nBenefits:\nCompetitive hourly pay with overtime opportunities\nMedical, dental, and vision insurance\n401(k) with company match\nPaid time off and holidays\nCareer advancement and training opportunities\nA career with Sims provides you with the opportunity to work with an organization whose goal is to be the world’s safest and most responsible recycling company.
