This position works directly with the Install Manager to fulfill the needs of the department. Summary includes lays out, fits, welds and installs fabricated components to assemble structural forms such as machinery frames, tanks, pipe, cyclones, truck bins and other pneumatic conveying, environmental, and dust collection equipment by performing the following duties.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesSelects equipment and figures layout, assembly, welding and installation. Lays out, positions, aligns and fits components together for installation. Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding. Sets up equipment and welds parts, using arc, gas-shielded arc, or gas welding equipment. Assembles and installs parts by bolting and welding. Repairs products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts. Oversee and direct work of others as needed and required. Keeps area clean and organized. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Values and supports the company’s safety rules, regulations and culture. Knowledge & Skill RequirementsGood communication and organizational skills with a willingness to work with contractors, vendors and personnel. Good understanding and background of general construction methods.Basic computer skills generating reports and/or correspondence. Ability to deal with employees requests and needs as they arise in a timely fashion. Must be willing to answer the phone at any given time.Ability to interact with all levels and personnel of the company, professionally and in a positive manner. One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training. Strong mathematical ability to calculate figures and amounts. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometryUse of software, company operating systems etc., to generate reports, enter dataSupervisory or Lead experience. Required current driver license and insurable driving record. ODL, CDL preferred, Work EnvrionmentThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, welding fumes or airborne particles, forklifts, and electricity when out in the manufacturing areas and various work sites. The majority of work is performed outdoors with frequent exposure to the manufacturing areas. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Physical DemandsThe employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include, close vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this position, requirements include, standing for long periods of time, bending, stooping, crouching, walking, using hands and arms reaching for objects, carrying files, climb or balance, speak and hear. Must be able to work at heights using manlifts, ladders, etc. Physical demands include driving, company vehicle and/or personal vehicle performing work for WPI, subject to rain, cold, icy roads, wind, heat etc. while driving.
