The DBA is responsible for tasks such as development of best practices and repeatable procedures for deploying databases, day-to-day operational activities including break/fix, capacity management, backup and recovery, database replication setup/management and ongoing database change reviews. The team also builds and maintains large-scale and very high transaction SQL Server databases on Windows Server platforms. You will also work in tandem with the other teams, preparing documentations and specifications as required.\nSenior SQL Server DBA Responsibilities\nProvision and configure SQL Server instances for both new and existing products.\nEnsure performance, security, and availability of databases.\nPlan, implement, and maintain replication strategies.\nIn depth analysis of performance, identification of areas of improvement, and implementation planning.\nPrepare documentation, procedures, and specifications.\nHandle common database procedures such as upgrade, backup, recovery, migration, etc.\nProfile server resource usage, optimize and tweak as necessary.\nCollaborate with other team members and stakeholders.\nMentor junior team members.\n24x7 Support of Production DB’s\nSenior SQL Server DBA Skills and Qualifications\nKnowledge of de-facto standards and best practices in SQL Server\nStrong proficiency in SQL Server database management and administration including with large scale SQL Server databases.\nHands on experience implementing and maintaining Always On Availability Groups is required. Knowledge of additional replication models in a plus.\nHands on experience implementing and maintaining SQL Server encryption models including TDE, Always Encrypt, SSL connections, etc.\nExperience working with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and ETL jobs.\nKnowledge of SQL Server features such as partitioning, query store, Column Store indexing, etc.\nProficient in writing and optimizing SQL/T-SQL queries and jobs.\nExperience with backup and recovery strategies.\nAbility to plan resource requirements from high level specifications.\nMonitoring and alerting solutions\nKnowledge of limitations in SQL Server and workarounds in contrast to other popular relational databases\nStrong technical problem-solving skills and working knowledge of common protocols such as SFTP, SMTP, DNS, and HTTP/S\nExperience administering Debian or Ubuntu Linux\nAble to work under pressure and multi-task.\nPro-active, dedicated, committed and responsible.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills\nQualifications\nEducation\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences with 10+ years administering and maintaining SQL Server OR\nMaster’s degree with 8+ years’ experience.\nCertified SQL Server DBA is a plus.\nYears of Related Experience\nYears of experience 5 to 8 years\nIt would also be advantageous if you had any of the following experience:\nKnowledge and experience with\nTableau\nCode versioning tools such as Git/GitLab\nOther popular database engines such as MySQL, Percona, MariaDB\nWindows Server Administration\nScripting – PowerShell, Python, and shell scripting are all good\nZabbix\nIndustry experience - either in iLottery or iGaming\n\nPhysical Requirements\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
