This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional with nonprofit experience who enjoys blending hands‑on accounting with leadership, oversight, and strategic collaboration.The Controller will play a key role in financial reporting, compliance, and process improvement while partnering closely with leadership to support transparency and stewardship of funds.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, month‑end close, and financial reportingPrepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statementsEnsure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, including GAAP and fund accountingManage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis in collaboration with leadershipOversee grant tracking, restricted funds, and donor‑related reportingCoordinate annual audits and serve as the primary point of contact for external auditorsMaintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting policiesLead and develop accounting staff; provide guidance, training, and oversightSupport process improvements and system efficiencies within the accounting functionQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)5–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a nonprofit organizationStrong knowledge of nonprofit accounting, including fund and grant accountingPrior experience in a controller, assistant controller, or accounting manager roleExperience managing or mentoring accounting staffStrong understanding of internal controls and audit processesProficiency with accounting systems and ExcelCPA preferred but not requiredCompensation & OpportunityBase salary range of $95K–$120K, depending on experienceHybrid work environment with remote flexibilityHigh‑impact leadership role supporting a mission‑driven organizationOpportunity to influence financial strategy and operational improvementsStable organization with long‑term growth and visibility
