School Clinician
POSITION: School ClinicianPutnam Middle School is seeking a compassionate and experienced full-time School Clinician to support students' social-emotional development and promote positive behavioral outcomes during the critical middle school years. The ideal candidate will bring a trauma-informed approach to provide individual and group counseling, assist in crisis response, and conduct assessments that guide behavior plans and student success. Working within a collaborative culture of caring educators, the selected professional will play a key role in fostering a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment that ensures our students' educational experience prepares them for the real world.Major Duties & ResponsibilitiesDirect Student Support: Provide individual and group counseling sessions focused on the unique social-emotional needs of middle school students, including identity development, peer relationships, and academic anxiety.Trauma-Informed Intervention: Implement evidence-based, trauma-informed strategies to support students' emotional regulation and behavioral growth.Crisis Response: Lead and assist in school-based crisis intervention and risk assessments to ensure student safety and stability.Assessment & Planning: Conduct functional behavioral assessments (FBAs) and develop comprehensive Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) to inform programming and guide decision-making.Collaborative Partnership: Work closely with teachers, administrators, and the Student Services team to integrate social-emotional learning into the classroom and support inclusive practices.Family & Community Engagement: Serve as a bridge between the school, families, and outside community providers to ensure a holistic approach to student wellness.Progress Monitoring: Maintain accurate documentation of interventions and student progress to measure the efficacy of support services.Minimum QualificationsCertification: Valid CT Teaching Certificate with endorsement 070 (School Psychologist), 071 (School Social Worker), 068 (School Counselor), or 268 (School Marriage and Family Therapist); or documented eligibility for certification is required.Mastery of social-emotional development and trauma-informed approaches appropriate for middle school-aged students.High degree of professionalism and a commitment to maintaining student confidentiality.Background Check: Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and meet all district employment requirementsRATE OF PAY: $56,198 - $100,761 per year (determined by contractual agreement)Application ProcedureEXTERNAL APPLICANTS: Please submit your application through our website: www.putnamschoolsct.orgINTERNAL APPLICANTS: Please submit a letter of interest and updated resume to Gregory Keith, Principal and Rebecca Lopes, Director of Student ServicesSTART DATE: 2026-2027 School YearAPPLICATION CLOSING DATE: Open until filledEqual Opportunity Employer
