We are recruiting 1 part-time, detail-oriented student to join our staff as an Optometric Technician. This position assists our diverse patient base to deliver quality optometric care and outstanding customer service and is perfect for a college student looking to gain experience in the healthcare industry!
The Optometric Technician performs all pre-testing and special testing, records patient histories, assists the doctor during patient exams and procedures, and ensures the doctor’s schedule flows smoothly. The position offers extensive hands-on clinical medical experience in a private healthcare environment, allows networking with our doctors' extensive connections throughout the country, excellent resume builder, and potential recommendations for any future career in medicine.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare patients for eye exams: conduct pre-testing, document chief complaint, update health history, and enter readings and prescription information in the
Electronic Health Records (EHR) system
Perform special testing and procedures as ordered by the doctor
Keep the doctor on schedule and informed of any changes to the schedule
Provide chairside assistance, including scribing appointment details
Perform dilations and contact lens insertion and removal training
Maintain correspondence with other medical offices, scheduling referrals and consults, as well as providing reports for patients with applicable medical conditions
Ensure cleanliness of exam rooms, pre-testing rooms and all equipment. Prep and close rooms daily
Maintain and order necessary supplies to keep exam rooms fully stocked
Contribute to a positive patient experience by ensuring the office appearance and process of care from greeting to retention consistently exceeds expectations
Qualifications:
High school diploma and enrollment in college
Customer / patient service experience, preferably in a medical environment; optical experience preferred
Self-motivated and detail-oriented
Strong organizational and communication skills
Proficient with computers and relevant software applications; experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems is a plus
A positive and engaging personality
Commitment to long term professional growth
No weekends!
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
