Our Community Development team also works with and supports projects from other disciplines in the local area, and is part of a team that works on projects across the western US. A Civil Project Engineer will perform a variety of tasks which may include design analysis, calculations, preparation of exhibits, mentoring junior staff, and preparation of construction documents. The projects that you will be assigned to may be broad, varied, and diverse in scope.\n\nYour Key Responsibilities\n\nServe as the technical lead for the project team responsible for preparing grading, drainage, wet utility, street improvements, and other civil engineering design documents, as well as hydrology/hydraulic storm water modeling and hydraulic modeling of pipe networks.\n\nPrepare and revise documentation for various project phases from feasibility analysis to construction closeout.\n\nCoordinate with the geomatics team and obtain appropriate record data required to assemble complete and accurate base information.\n\nPrepare concept design alternatives considering site constraints and project objectives to evolve the project layout.\n\nPrepare three‑dimensional models of civil systems and provide markups and direction for other project team engineers and designers.\n\nParticipate in coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owners and contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.\n\nPrepare construction quantity estimates and basic opinion of cost analysis.\n\nAssist with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing, and schedule.\n\nLead the preparation and coordination of project specifications and construction documents.\n\nParticipate in constructability review.\n\nConduct quality assurance and quality control on projects.\n\nLead effort for processing project documentation to approval and permit availability.\n\nWork with the team to prioritize workload and schedule on multiple projects.\n\nYour Capabilities and Credentials\n\nExperience with land development projects in location, area, county, and market settings.\n\nRequisite knowledge and application of agency and industry applicable codes.\n\nGeneral understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.\n\nStrong knowledge of civil systems, mechanics, materials, and industry standards.\n\nAbility to effectively discuss project issues with clients and reviewing agencies.\n\nPossesses excellent time‑management skills.\n\nThorough understanding of task assignment, scheduling, budgeting, and efficient use of time and resources.\n\nAbility to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness.\n\nAbility to participate and collaborate in project team settings and to engage in creative and critical thought.\n\nMentor and lead other design team members.\n\nThorough understanding of civil engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.\n\nStrong oral and written communication skills.\n\nProficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant design software (AutoCAD Civil3D, locally accepted hydrology and hydraulic programs, etc.).\n\nPossess a valid driver’s license and good driving record.\n\nEducation and Experience\n\nBachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering.\n\nLicensed Professional Engineer. Minimum 8 years of experience.\n\nLocal project resume and experience strongly preferred.\n\nExperience directing junior staff in execution of project deliverables preferred.\n\nTypical office environment: working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.
