Our commitment to excellence, collaboration, and forward-thinking solutions enables us to successfully serve clients and communities while maintaining the highest standards in the industry.Position Title: Project Engineer (Sustainability)The Optiminds Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer (Sustainability) to support Program Management Office (PMO) operations with a strong focus on sustainable construction initiatives. This role will work closely with project teams to ensure compliance, efficiency, and integration of energy-efficient and environmentally responsible solutions across all phases of construction projects.Key Responsibilities:Provide technical and engineering support to PMO, Project Managers, and Construction ManagersCoordinate with contractors, architects, engineers, inspectors, consultants, and client teamsParticipate in and lead design and construction meetings as neededConduct field inspections to ensure compliance with project specifications, sustainability goals, and regulatory requirementsInterpret construction plans, specifications, shop drawings, and sustainability-related documentationPrepare reports, correspondence, procedures, and project documentationSupport weekly/monthly reporting, including sustainability tracking and photo documentationReview, estimate, negotiate, and process change orders and field ordersMonitor and enforce construction and professional services contractsManage consultants and contractors, including invoice review and approvalsIdentify project risks and maintain risk registers with mitigation strategiesFacilitate resolution of construction, design, and sustainability-related issuesCoordinate RFIs, submittals, and construction change documentationGenerate and distribute meeting minutesEnsure contractor compliance with record drawing requirements prior to payment approvalsMaintain organized project files (electronic and physical)Prepare Proposed Board Actions (PBAs) and Scope of Work documentsSupport procurement of consultants and contractorsSustainability Focus Areas:Energy Information Systems (EIS)Energy-efficient LED lighting upgradesBuilding Management Systems (BMS)Central plant decarbonization and chiller systemsRenewable energy (solar PV, battery storage systems)Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS)Minimum Required Qualifications:Minimum 7 years of professional experience in construction, engineering, or similar roleBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related fieldAdditional experience may substitute for educationAbility to work collaboratively in a team environment and take initiativeStrong organizational and time-management skills in a fast-paced environmentExcellent written and verbal communication skillsPreferred Qualifications:Experience with sustainability-focused or energy infrastructure projectsExperience in educational or public-sector construction programsExperience across full project lifecycle (planning, design, construction, closeout)Professional certifications such as PE, CCM, or similar credentialsFamiliarity with energy systems, decarbonization, and green building practicesBenefits401(k) retirement planComprehensive Health Insurance (medical, dental, and vision)Paid Time Off for personal and vacation daysEqual Opportunity ProviderAvsar Construction is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
