As a Professional Surgery Coder, your expertise will support clean claims, reduce reimbursement delays, strengthen revenue cycle performance, and help healthcare organizations focus on delivering exceptional patient care.\n\nWhat You’ll Gain\nFlexibility of a remote work environment\nVisibility and access to leadership\nOpportunity to contribute ideas and influence change\nProfessional development and career growth opportunities\nMeaningful work supporting healthcare organizations nationwide\nA collaborative culture that values employee success, recognition, and work-life balance\n\nWhat You’ll Do\nMeet client expected turn-a-round times for completing work.\nAbstract all E/M, CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM, modifiers, units from the medical record documentation.\nAccurately enter data into client software and/or Excel reports.\nEvaluate the overall quality of physician documentation for quality improvement measures.\nPerform accurate coding using applicable guidelines and client protocols.\nCommunicate with client and/or providers as needed (i.e. coding clarification, missing documentation, etc.).\nCommunicate with Project Manager as needed (i.e. schedule changes, daily assignments/work volume, coding questions, etc.).\nTrack and enter time accurately and timely into our timekeeping system.\nComply with policies regarding the use and disclosure of protected health information which includes accessing and using protected health information only to the extent necessary to fulfill the above-mentioned responsibilities.\nEnsure compliance with federal and state laws, regulations, and standards related to health information and coding principles.\nOther duties as assigned.\n\nWhat You’ll Bring\nMust have one of the following current credentials from AAPC or AHIMA: CPC or CCS with a minimum of 5 years certified.\nA minimum of five years’ recent experience required abstracting CPT, E&M, HCPCS and ICD-10-CM codes from provider documentation.\nRequires knowledge in Anesthesia, Cardiothoracic Surgery, ENT Surgery, Neurosurgery (including skull based), General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Urology Surgery\nExtensive knowledge of medical terminology.\nExperience in researching and applying coding rules and regulations.\nMust have experience with data entry of codes into a database and/or software tool.\nProficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and various EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems.
